From my rudimentary understanding of the process, it takes about 6 months after an album is completed for it to be released. This is to accommodate for album artwork, liner notes, cd pressing, marketing strategizing (including where to sell the album, how to sell the album, what should be the first single, booking the artist on a publicity campaign, etc). November is pretty much 5 months away at this point, and it sounds like they're still doing overdubs in LA. It's just hard for me to see the album emerging so quickly. I hope to be proven wrong!

It's possible some of this non recording related activity is already under way and the September/October release date will happen...The Huff/Post article suggests FM may have the new record out (maybe) in the first half of 2015 so Stevie can't afford to have the release date pushed back to far without risking being in direct conflict with the new FM record coming out...Nobody want's the FM record being delayed because Stevie's record was delayed...Stevie said in her BMI speech when talking about "24 Karat Gold" that it's the fastest she's ever worked so all we can do is hope Dave is able to keep Stevie working at a feverish pace...

I think if Stevie breaks free from Warner Bros/Reprise for this release and instead goes through a smaller/Indie label, it's possible she could hit her November target. She's going about this album differently than she pretty much ever has, so anything is possible! :)

On another note, I keep wondering if Dave will release any song snippets the way he did during the recording of In Your Dreams?

There is nothing about a new album on the Nicks Fix, the "official" site.

Yes I think once the record is out of Dave's hands that's where the delays will start especially if WB is putting the record out and while I think a smaller label would be better for both Stevie and FM as well I don't think they will give up the prestige of being with a major label although I'm quite sure there are many smaller labels that would be thrilled to have them and would go all out and give them the star treatment they are used to...

I did ask Dave on twitter after Mick let the cat out of the bag about what was happening in Nashville if he would post a snippet of one of the new songs like he did with "Everybody Loves You" but never heard anything back...

Did you actually think there would be?

sorcerer999 05-22-2014 01:50 PM

In a perfect world, YES! But with Stevie and Warners, NO! I sincerely hope to be proven wrong...but I just have a feeling that Warners promotion is going to push it back to early to mid 2015.

I voted "no", but I'm praying that Warners/Stevie's camp can stay on track and make it a "yes" for October/November.

BombaySapphire3 05-22-2014 02:11 PM

I voted yes..given the album's title and their rather odd IMO plan to market it as an" alternative greatest hits" package I believe it will be out in time for the holidays.

When it comes to Stevie, who knows. But she may not even release it physically, so I think an October release is possible.

StreetAngel86 05-22-2014 06:23 PM

yes. because happy birthday to ME

I would be very sad if she only released this album digitally. Given the material she's using, there's a lot of potential for fantastic liner notes/photos. And as any others here have said, I would love a companion album with the original demos.

I fully expect liner notes along the lines of the "Crystal Visions" book...Everyone will be shocked and highly disappointed if it's a "Digital only" release especially after her ICON award speech where she went on about bringing the fun back to music...

I totally agree! This could be so perfect, but as we have seen with Stevie, she is the queen of missed opportunities. With the state of the music industry, the nature of this album, and the speed at which she wants to release it, I would not be shocked if it was digital only. Fingers crossed that it isn't tho!
