Ral and Ostmark songs set lists

I'm sure this has been brought up, but thought it would make a good discussion. Why is it that Rock a Little and Otherside of the Mirror excluded from Stevie's set lists.? We all know why she excludes Street Angel, but the prior two.

Both Ral and Otsom have some great songs. Rooms on fire sounded great live and hearing Has anyone ever written anything for you on Ahs. It's been missing since 08. Where did these songs go?

well...In regards to OTOSM, she has stated that Rooms on Fire was just not working well live despite performing it between 1989-1994. I think as recently as the last two years she HAS mentioned bringing "Whole Lotta Trouble" back into her solo set. This would be simply awesome.

In regards to RAL...the only tune I see her doing is HAEWAFY. She did not write "Talk to Me" or "I can't wait" (music or lyrics) and so she likely feels no personal connection to those songs. Just my honest opinion...

Stevie did both "Rooms on Fire" and "Whole Lotta Trouble" at the millennium shows in 1999/2000. That was the last time anything from OSOTM was performed live.

I know she said it on Crystal Visions.

I disagree with this mainly because she'll do cover songs and other songs she did not write music to oftentimes in her sets.

I believe she believes her voice can not handle RAL songs like Talk To Me or I Can't Wait and any other song in the album she probably feels isn't known and thus isn't "what the fans want to hear".

I personally think No Spoken Word, Sister Honey, If I Were You, Some Become Strangers and even Imperial Hotel would be great RAL songs to perform (in addition to HAEWAFY).

Not sure about OSOTM songs except for Long Way To Go which she felt would be too exhausting to do night after night even back then

I wish that she'd remember she has always referred to herself as a rock n roll singer and get on stage and start wailing away. Make the whole thing all rockers with just a few slow songs thrown down at us, like a barricade.

I think Imperial Hotel, and even Sister Honey would be great to hear live. They could inject something for Stevie get around and move to on stage.

OSTOM, Long way to go would be my first choice, but i think OOh My Love would be nice to hear live as well.

Strange

I do find it odd that she doesn't sing much from OSOTM, especially since it did so well in the UK.

I can imagine her reviving Fire Burning and Juliet for a future set definitely.

It's shame that she doesn't :/

I wish I could imagine that. Fire Burning was never performed, and Juliet was dropped from her set early on in the OSOTM tour. I feel so lucky I was at a show when she played it. It came off very well; I recall a brief acoustic perscussion segment that was very cool

I was happy and impressed that she included a respectable chunk of new songs in the set list, until she dropped Juliet.

Rooms On Fire
Two Kinds of Love
Whole Lotta Trouble
Alice
Juliet

On her previous Rock A Little tour she was equally stingy, with just four new until she dropped I Can't Wait.

Talk To Me
I Can't Wait
No Spoken Word
Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You
I Can't Wait

She has surprised us by performing songs she's never performed before: Storms, Beautiful Child and Love Is. I hope she surprises us again, with other never-performed-songs.

My canidates include: Long Way To Go, Doing The Best I That I Can, Imperial Hotel, Rock A Little.

Since it 's likely her next move will be with Fleetwood Mac, let's hope she'll consider some of her back catalog and perform I Don't Want To Know, Crystal, That's Alright...

Fireflies, should be dug out! I know it will be as likely as john version of "cool water" being put into a set list.

When asked about doing an accoustic show at one of the IYD Q&A sessions, she said she wouldn't do a fully accoustic show, but would like to do a stripped back show of lesser known tracks and sang a few lines of the first 3 title tracks (Bella Donna, Wild Heart and Rock A Little).

I'd love to hear The Mac do "That's Alright" live, with a similar setup to "Say You Love Me" from The Dance and "Without You"/"Gypsy" from 2013.

"I Can't Wait" was performed throughout the whole RAL tour, but was switched about a bit in the set.

Where did you get the idea that Stevie didn't write I can't wait? She most certainly did write it, she didn't write the music though. She did an interview and said Rick knowles brought the track over, and they listened to it and she didn't act like she was that knocked out about it but as soon as he left, she went into her recording studio and spent all night writing the lyrics to it.

Although in retrospect neither album has stood up well, I remember seeing the OSTOM tour in Toronto and it was so refreshing to hear an ample sampling on the set list, something like 7 songs and she sounded great too. Gold Dust had a cool little latin twist and she really nailed Dreams on that tour as well. She also did the new tracks justice. I think she sounds much more refreshed when she plays homage to her new material and stays away from the covers, as she is not a great interpreter of other writer's music.

i think it's the wrong people around her(brother ,ugh) who influence her .... and her need to keep it safe for the casual fan ... as for covers some are good I loved I need to Know the first 20 years ,
Rock and Roll is good to ... really did not care for circle dance and I just wonder if anyone actually listened to Crash before putting it on a cd

Rock a Little remains my favorite album of hers overall with OSOTM, IYD, and WH tied for second. I don't like her doing too many covers but I believe she interprets others' music wonderfully - Her Buddy Holly covers, Circle Dance I think is great, Crash pulls my heart strings in a way the original never did. Rock And Roll, I Need To Know, etc....

She does great with covers imho but I do think she does too many of them in her sets at times.
