What would you like Stevie do in the new year?
Apparently, as she recently quoted, Stevie is excited for the new year, but doesn't know why, despite not having any plans.
Surely this would be the place for her to get some ideas. I suggest she records an album with Fleetwood Mac, while also putting together a companion compilation to the Enchanted box. It could feature material that was overlooked, her random released new recordings, as well as demos and unreleased stuff from her "vault." |
Stevie needs to get working on her next solo record and not wait for FM to decide what if anything they are going to do...This is just my take on things but I don't think anything regarding any future FM project with or without CM is in the works just yet...It all just seems to be a lot of he said she said rumours speculation and a lot of wish full thinking...Stevie should start her next record and if FM decides to record LB can send Stevie some tracks like Mike Campbell or Dave did and have Stevie write some lyrics and put some vocals on the tracks and send them back to FM...

A new Mac album would be lovely, but I'm kind of scared of Lindsey's production these days. I haven't really truly enjoyed (as opposed to just respecting aspects of) a studio album of his since UTS, and his production on the EP was just blechy, to these ears. I'm hoping the band will have a bit more outside input if they attempt to release more new material.
I'd be happy with a solo album, too. I loved IYD. Although I do think solo-Steive could benefit from some outside input regarding some of her lyrics, but that's probably a bit pie-in-the-sky like at this point. It'd be fun to see her find another collaborator that she'd be as excited about as Dave Stewart, but another album with him involved would suit me fine too. Anyway, yeah, releasing new material is my highly original suggestion for Stevie this year. ;) |
Get back to basics and record, record, record and release. That's what I want Stevie to do in 2014.
No touring - no matter what. I feel like a huge reason for there being so few Stevie Nicks and/or Fleetwood Mac albums is that they have some weird compulsion to tour after every single one. it's almost an *excuse* to not record new music. A Fleetwood Mac album, with Christine. A new solo album from Stevie. A new compilation or box set would also be great. Reissues of her back catalog. Reissues of Mirage. All of this is possible, if they wanted it. |

Well it looks like Stevie is planning on working on the "Rhiannon project" again...
The iconic performer is getting ready to revisit her long-gestating "Rhiannon" project. "I already have some friends that are working with me and we are really starting to put it into shape and form. I may never have four or five months off again in my life and I have it right now, so I’m going to do that," she reveals, noting she'd prefer to produce the entry as a feature film. "I also think it would be an amazing miniseries because it's long. It’s a lot of stories that are all connected and all amazing," Nicks says. "It couldn’t just be one movie and if it can’t be what I want, then I won’t do it. So I’m just going to work on it for a couple months and see how it comes out." When pressed if she'd be open for another reunion with Murphy to produce the project, she laughs before getting serious. "That's a very good idea," she says. http://movies.yahoo.com/news/america...050000622.html |
In Your Dreams was dazzling- probably the highest quality album of Stevie's solo career. However, now it's time for the Mac's return to form. I think Christine's reunion with the band will remedy any warts that Extended Play and even Say You Will exhibited. Christine has never made a bad studio album... with or without Fleetwood Mac (and yes, I'm counting the Pre-1975 years). It's not just that she's a talented artist- I think she demands a certain quality from everyone she works with. We haven't had a studio album from our 5 Fireflies in 27 years. I need just one more.
All that being said, if Christine doesn't return to the band in a recording capacity, Stevie & Lindsey should just go back to their solo careers. Extended Play was plain abysmal. Yet, I think Seeds We Sow & In Your Dreams are career highlights for these two. So if they can't mesh together anymore, then let them go back to being brilliant separately. :) |
In most of her AHS interviews, Stevie has mentioned being off for 5 months (to work on her Rhiannon film, of course), that makes me think there are a few possibilities:
1. Fleetwood Mac will tour in the Summer with or without Christine. Probability: High 2. Fleetwood Mac will return to the studio with Christine to record a new album. Probability: Moderate 3. Stevie will tour by herself this Summer. Probability: Very High 4. Stevie will return to the studio to record a solo album. Probability: Low 5. RavenOfRhiannon does not know what the frack he's talking about. Probability: Extremely High |
I really want Stevie to do it all but I am a realist. I expect touring either with FM or alone, which to me distracts from making music as time runs out.

I think it's cool that she's still passionate about this project after all of these years. Despite the extremely long gestation, maybe it really will see the light of day in the future. |

As for what I'd like to see Stevie do this year....
I previously had little interest in a new Fleetwood Mac album, if it were only going to be Stevie & Lindsey. I'd much rather Stevie focus on a new solo album, in that case. But, if Christine really does return to the fold, then I would love for a new studio album to come to fruition this year. Or for the band to at least begin recording. Beyond that, expanded/remastered editions of Stevie's solo albums would be fantastic, as would a collection of demos & outtakes. The one thing that I don't want Stevie to do this year, either solo or with FM, is more touring. There are so many better ways for her to make use of her time, IMO. Great thread, PenguinHead! |
