RIP Karen Black - Gypsy83

Karen Black played the character "Bambi" in the Stevie Nicks-related movie "Gypsy83" has passed away after a 3 year battle with cancer. RIP - I thought she was a good actress.

Wasn't she also the stewardess (as they were called) in one of the Airport movies with Charlton Heston?

Macfanforever 08-08-2013 08:29 PM

Thats to bad. She's a great actress .I remember her best in the movie "Nashvile".

She starred in one of my all time favorite TV movies, Trilogy Of Terror. That little kabuki doll come to life was hilariously funny as it hacked her up with its little sword.

One movie she was in was Burnt Offerings. She was really hot in the early 70's but she got type cast in horror movies.

Aw, Karen Black was a real talent and she will be missed.

I remember early in my Stevie fandom, watching Gypsy 83 and trying desperately to convince myself that it was an enjoyable film. Alas, I have since come to terms with the fact that it is just plain-ol'-bad. But I do remember it fondly for the time it marks in my life as a Stevie fan. And she was quite good in it.

Me too.Ronee Blakley and Henry Gibson really can sing too.

Gypsy83 was a painful movie to watch. I wanted to walk out of the theater several times. However, as was previously mentioned by Dex, for me it also marked a particular point in my Stevie fandom and has it's place in my memory for that reason. My favorite movies with Karen Black are Five Easy Pieces and Easy Rider, which also have their memories-in-time.

I felt so bad for her. Gypsy 83 was pretty bad, quite possibly the worst movie ever made.

Sara Rue is an actress I'm normally a fan of, too. But, uh... yeah. Sometimes you strike out, I guess.

But it was actually recommended to me by the girl at the checkout where I bought my first copies of Bella Donna and TISL. She recommended it! Seemingly with her conscience completely in tact and everything! So obviously it resonates with some viewers. Perhaps the actresses thought it was good after all.

And in fairness, it can't be called the worst movie ever made. Todd Stephens' other films are equally as appalling. It's a 4-way tie at the most. ;)

After all these years .I have not seen Gypsy 83 movie .Don't ask me why.I got to look for it.

I suppose anything is worth taking the time to form your own opinion on. Give it a try. :)
