TISL vs. IYD (Track by Track) Day One

Since the IYD Survivor is doing so well, I thought I'd see how TISL and IYD stack up track by track. I did this on facebook and it was pretty interesting. I'm going to post one track from TISL and (what I think of as) the corresponding track from IYD. Vote for your favorite. I'll do one a day until we finish the albums and tally up the votes. Each poll will close at 2pm CDT (approximately).
Remember, vote for your favorite!

This was kinda tough. I really like Wide Sargasso Sea, but to me, Trouble in Shangri-La is just so Epic. I love that it opens the album. The first time I heard it, all I could think was, 'She's BACK!!'

I *love* Wide Sargasso Sea. It is one of my top-3 tracks from In Your Dreams.

That said, pairing it with Trouble In Shangri La all but guarantees it will lose - I personally would have paired TISL with In Your Dreams, since both are title tracks.

My two cents. I voted for TISL.

I was originally going to do that, or just run down the track order on both cds. Both times it seemed that one of the songs would get the advantage. Instead, I tried to pair 'like' songs together as much as possible. It didn't always work, but I think it's more of a fair fight.

TISL hands down ;)

Definitely TISL. I will never forget the first time I heard a little 30 sec snippet of the song TISL before the album came out. I played that 30 sec clip over and over, imagining what the entire song must be like. The entire song sure did not disappoint. It is still one of my all-time fav. Stevie songs.

This is the wrong pairing. TISL should be paired with In Your Dreams.

I definitely understand. Pairing up songs is tricky.

Sorry, not to pile on, but I personally think "Moonlight" would of been the worthy competitor against TISL. Both songs are among the top tier, if not the top on most fan lists from each respective record. That would have been a close competetion. And maybe POTU against Annabel Lee or YMBTO.
Doing track by track sequence is never a good competition or indicator imo. I think one has to have a good gauge of song quality/popularity/song type to get as close of an accurate read of which is a more popular record overall. That's why most of these "track by Track are completly arbitrary and have unclear outcomes. Just my 2 cents.

I love both, but "TISL" gets my vote...

ShangriLaTroubl 03-20-2013 07:48 PM

Going to listen listen to "TISL" now - been way too long since I've heard this great song!
