flagship / most impressive songs showcasing FM members - now
if you were not a fan and you haven't heard all these songs hundreds of times, if you were someone just fleetingly knowing their music, and seeing FM / band members for the first time live in 2013, what songs would you consider to be flagship songs / songs that show off either the band or its members in the greatest light... songs that people cannot but be in owe after hearing live?
i'm asking for the songs that FM or band members can do great now - in 2103 (not the songs that they could do great in the 70s, 80s or 90s, but now they don't sound that great anymore. i guess we can base our opinions on performances from 2009 when FM toured last as well as more recent solo performances of FM songs. since i haven't heard FM yet in person, i will list 2 songs that seem to be spectacular every time in concert these days, according to completely random friends or family members i took with me, written reviews, and overall audience reaction. these 2 songs seem to without failing inspire an owe of the performer's skills, whether people heard them before or not:
(honorable mention should probably go to Come, but maybe that's just LB solo audience that's in owe over that one, so i'm not listing with the 2 above.) which other songs, if performed in 2013, perfectly showcase FM or individual band members and their skills live? |

Based on 2009, GDW and Go Insane hands down

GYOW, Gold Dust Woman, and even The Chain I think all still sound pretty great.

The Chain, GYOW and GDW.

"Gold Dust Woman" absolutely! She's nailing this song lately, but in a totally different way to how she used to. Stevie's solo "Stand Back" is pretty rocking too, but I'm not keen on the F'Mac versions.

I'd go with the songs that show all of the Mac not just Stevie or Lindsey. Songs like The Chain and Tusk show Mick and John at their best. Gold Dust Woman shows off Stevie's awesome vocals and her stage presence. Go Your Own Way shows off Lindsey's incredible guitar playing. Lastly, Landslide shows off the Buckingham Nicks dynamic.

we have so far:
any more?? there has to be some other songs that are still great live! i would argue that Tusk with the Mac has not been very good on the recent tours, but it was reworked and fun again on Lindsey's SWS tour. so i'm hoping that if we get Tusk this time around, the version they play is reworked similarly to SWS tour version. re Go Insane, considering it's a solo song, i really hope that will be replaced with another song this FM tour, regardless of home much i love both solo and band versions of that song, and how spectacular and intense Lindsey's OMS version was. re GYOW, i think that for the most part it's not as good as it used to be, but always amazing guitar solo makes up for it. plus this is one song that is a party / audience interaction song, i'm guessing similarly to EO17/edgewalk is during SN solo shows. |

Even though a lot of Ledgies are sick of it, I think we have to add Landslide. In my opinion Stevie always nails it, and it's a sing-along moment for even the most casual fans. |
