Opening Tracks and Closing Tracks

What album contains your favorite opening track? Closing track? Then for each album tell which song you would have put as the opener and closer or left the same.
Fleetwood Mac (1975)-
Opening- Monday Morning (keep the Same)
Closer- Crystal

Rumours-
Opener- The Chain or Second Hand News (they at least have to open for on side)
Closer- Gold Dust Woman: It wouldn't flow very well anywhere else on the album

Tusk-
Opener- idk The Ledge maybe? I love Over and Over, but it's sorta obscure for and opening song. That being said, there are no really great songs for opening the album on Tusk anyways.
Closer- Never Forget (keep the same)

Mirage-
Opener- Love in Store (it's sorta the same situation with Tusk)
Closer- Wish You Were Here (Keep the Same)

Tango in the Night-
Opener- Everywhere
Closer- agh Keep the Same... well maybe the title track as well

Say You Will-
Opener- Keep the Same or Bleed to Lover Her
Closer- Say You Will: the way it fades out makes it sorta a closing song I guess

Favorite Opening track- Second Hand News
Favorite Closing track- Never Forget or GDW

Favorite opening track: Second Hand News (Rumours)
Favorite closing track: Gold Dust Woman (Rumours)

Fleetwood Mac (1975), Rumours - no change

Tusk
- opening: "The Ledge"*
- closing: no change
* "Over and Over" lulls you into a false sense of security and I can see the merit in being purposely awkward that way, but I might prefer "Think About Me" for that. My ideal Tusk is a 15-track album, I like to rearrange the play order when I listen to it and I'm still not sure yet I've found my own ideal order. It's a fun exercise though.

Mirage
- opening: "Can't Go Back"*
- closing: no change
* I'd also start side 2 with "Straight Back".

Tango in the Night
- opening: no change
- closing: "Isn't It Midnight"*
*I have no real idea how to answer this TBH since I want to gut so much of side 2, but I feel like the way this album is ended is kind of complacent and maybe something with more kick would be interesting (I don't feel that way about Tusk simply because it ends on a happy and sweet song, though).

Say You Will
- opening: "Thrown Down"*
- closing: "Destiny Rules"*

* This album isn't really under my skin so I have even less of a clue how to answer. The way it is makes sense given all the tracks on it, but I want to take away like half the album entirely and that changes so much that it probably doesn't suit your aim anyway.

there was a thread awhile back about fave opening track. Don't know where it went to:shrug:

Anyway, Over and Over received quite a few postive responses and It is my choice as a favorite, as well.

I wouldn't change a thing to the openings or closings. Although not all of them are perfect, in general FM has done a good job in picking their track runnings. JMO

I like the Rumours opening and closing tracks.

I'd leave them the way they ALL are because thats the way that they want us to listen to the songs. Plus, we can skip the songs we don't like. :D

My favorite opening track on any Fleetwood Mac album is Over and Over, from Tusk.

My favorite closing track on any Fleetwood Mac album is You And I, from Tango.

I'm gonna focus just on Tusk.

I'm a big fan of Over and Over as the opener. It really doesn't fit anywhere else on the album. I love the false sense of what's coming...but where else can you put it. Seriously what song do you put it after? Anywhere else in the album it starts to feel like filler.

With that said, if we redid Tusk to make it more commercial friendly and made it a 10 song type of album. I think "Think About Me" would've been a great opener, they did release it as a single anyway, it's up beat, it's Christine and Lindsey ala Don't Stop

I tried to rearrange Tusk again last night and, you're absolutely right, "Over and Over" really just can't go anywhere else on the album except in the opening position.

You know, my favorite thing about "Think About Me" is Lindsey's backing vocals. It would indeed make an excellent opener for a pop-minded album.
