Listen To The Rain (Timespace version)
 

Hey everyone,

I was going to add this to the "Street Angel - Original Version" thread, but thought I'd share it in a separate thread so everyone gets the chance to see it.

Here is the 1991 Timespace recording of "Listen To The Rain", which IIRC Stevie originally intended to be the lead single from Timespace, before the label insisted on her recording "Sometimes It's A Bitch".

Anyway, here it is. Enjoy :thumbsup:

I always liked this song (one of the few in Street Angel).

I wished she fought harder to have this released. If not for Timespace then for Street Angel - either way it should have been a single and much better in line with her rock image than a Maybe Love Will Change Your Mind

I've always liked this version better than the SA version. The lyrics flow much better on the original version. It really is a shame this hasn't been released in some form or another. Say she could've put it on Enchanted. There was alot that could've been added to Enchanted so many outtakes/alternate versions/extended versions it could've been a 5 or 6 cd set with a DVD included and a nice outtake picture booklet. IMO anyway....just some thoughts. I don't like how she changed the lyrics up on the SA version. It just doesn't fit as well as this version does.:shrug:

any way to listen to this without downloading it? kinda spooked about the virus issue.

I listened to the "Timespace" version just now.

I honestly like the Street Angel version better. And that isn't saying much.

The whole repeat of "take some time to smell the roses and listen to the rain" made the painful presence of cliches even more painful.

If this had been a single, the people joking that Stevie's singing voice was goatlike would have even more ammunition. This song doesn't work. Period.

Anybody can repost the "Listen To The Rain" TimeSpace Version??? The one posted above contains a virus!

I'm guessing you are basing this decision on the sound quality? The original 1991 version that Chris has posted is a bootleg so it won't sound as clear as the released version.
I haven't listened to this in ages and after having just played it I found it boring. But the SA version sucks.

This is what I hate about sendspace. There are so many different items to fool you into DLing. I first DL'd an application I then had to delete.

I love this version of the song, and this is the best version of it I've heard. Thank you for posting it. I think the version on Street Angel sounds dull and lifeless and her voice just sounds tired. She's so full of punch and energy in this one and the music rocks harder. I never liked Love's a Hard Game to Play and I think this would have been a bigger hit if it had been released.
