Elle - thanks for posting this by the way! :)
Lindsey: "75% of your material is pre-ordained..." Stevie: "He's in involved in a very girly world and that's very good for me." Mick: "They were BN and that whole sensibility which is in truth sort of how it ended up... and I would love to think that we come up with some kooky ideas...the atmosphere of Buckingham Nicks...some of the material for Buckingham Nicks II ended up being on the Fleetwood Mac white album, so I think a cheeky look at doing some of that -- I always imagine like in the old days they used to sing on one microphone like the Everly Brothers..." |
I did not like that list of songs Lindsey gave that he thinks they must do. Sara? Gypsy? No thanks.
And I think they should retire Don't Stop, it's not the same without Christine. |

no Sara, Dreams, Rhiannon, Gypsy... please. (yeah, that will happen! at least no Sara would be a good start.) |
Acoustic Gypsy would be fine with me. Stevie could actually do without Gypsy. I think Lindsey likes it more than she does at this point. Michele

pleasepleaseplease no more Big Love, I'm So Afraid blech
Love love Sara but it's a bit too strained with Stevie's voice these days. And the music isn't the same without Christine on piano |
Gypsy is my all-time favorite Fleetwood Mac song - one of my favorite songs EVER - and to hear it acoustic live would be a delight.
Sara is very moving live. I enjoy it. That said, I wouldn't be devastated if they dropped it. Big Love may have gotten old to those of us who've been going to Lindsey's shows and hear it a lot, but it inevitably brings the house down. I can understand why he wouldn't want to drop such a showcase for his talent. ISA, when it's done right, is Lindsey's most powerful song of the concert. I would HATE to see it go; I look forward to it eagerly. I would be VERY disappointed if it was never played. GYOW and Dreams are signature songs. Of course they have to play them. We hardcore fans have to recognize the reality that your common fan would feel cheated if they didn't hear their favorites - and I understand that. If I go to a Eagles show and don't hear Take It Easy, I feel a little let down. The average Fleetwood Mac casual fans are paying big bucks and they want to hear the songs they love. The Mac doesn't have to play all their hits, but they'd better play their signature songs. However, I hate how Lindsey does NGBA now. He slows it to a crawl and drains it of its energy musically, and he uses this whispery affected voice on a lot of it which I loathe almost as much as I adore his normal singing voice. Then, to top it all off, he does that thing where he holds a note a long time and waits for applause. Bringing the song to a screeching halt just to show off some breath control doesn't impress me. "Look at me! I can hold a note a long time!" Well, whoopdy-freaking-doo. It's a real pity because NGBA is a terrific song. If he played it like he did in the old days it would be killer, but he's turned it into something that's painful to watch and impossible for me to enjoy. Rhiannon is another song which has lost its spirit. Is it too much to hope for that they might do Rhiannon uptempo and bring back Lindsey's guitar solo? I don't expect Stevie to go crazy like the old days, but I'm tired of the slowed arrangement. Plus, Lindsey's smoking guitar on the live versions was half of what made that song such a show-stopper. To remove it is to gut the song. I'm not adverse to them dropping Stand Back because it's a solo song, but at least Stevie has energy during it. I'm just praying that Silver Springs is vibrant and emotional this go-round like it was during SYW, and that Stevie doesn't do that weird thing where she stares over the heads of the audience while she sings the end like she did during Unleashed. That "staring into space" move comes across as emotional disconnect at a time when the song is supposed to be at its emotional climax, and it ruins the song. I'd rather they not perform it at all than witness that kind of emotionless delivery again, and that's saying something, because Silver Springs is another favorite of mine. My current plan is to buy tickets for two shows, then wait and see if the show is good enough for me to go to more. Unleashed wasn't, but I have higher hopes for this go-round. |
Did anybody record this?
|
I hope they do the 16 minute version of Sara.
Michele |
I will spend big bucks on tickets for this show as long as
I get one or two decent surprises. Blue Letter and Sisters of the Moon would definitely be a dealbreaker! |
