Eight New Tracks

From Nickslive Blogspot (quoting Mick Fleetwood):

"Lindsey, myself and John (McVie) are hoping Stevie will enjoy at least doing an EP," he says. "Lindsey and I have put some great music together. I went to LA for six weeks and we cut eight tracks as a calling card that we really want to do something. I think some of that should see the light of day. It's really good and fresh and young. And if everyone's happy, maybe that will be the beginnings of an album."

Sorry if this has been posted elsewhere. I typically only come to the LB Ledge site. While I abhor Mick, I believe he has a good musical sense of what is good (along with a shrewd business sense of what might sell and how he/they can capitalize on it). Eight songs is almost an entire CD - I imagine they would add four Stevie songs to entice her fans to buy it as well.

yeah, i posted the whole article in the Rumours forum since it's primarily about FM the way Mick worded it.

but - since it's really LB's music / tracks we are talking about at this point, maybe it would be good to also have it on this board and focus on what LB fans would like to see happen with these 8 tracks...

i have to say that i assume these are the same tracks / new songs that LB mentioned in Paphides radio interview, where he said he'd like for Stevie to hear those tracks and to possibly work with her on them and some others. in the same interview, Stevie said that Lindsey has written new songs that were inspired by the passing of her mother... so these do seem to be the songs LB planned to work on with her.

I remember the interview, and them both mentioning ( i think ) that he had new songs he wanted her to hear. I was thinking they meant in terms of a BN record, though. I don't remember her saying his songs were inspired by her mom's passing. I mean, I believe you - I'm not questioning you, but I mean I just don't recall that part...but that's typical of me  What did she say exactly??

Also, when I read Mick's interview, my initial reaction was sheer joy. I would be thrilled at a new album, be it FM, BN, or solo, though I'd prefer it to be solo any day of the week. But you're right, it's practically a whole album he has written, and the more I've thought about it, the more I'm kind of getting sick at the thought of Lindsey breaking up his songs to give some to FM, and leaving others in a vault, never to be heard. So, I'm definitely having mixed emotions here  And if it's a FM record they have in mind, I don't see it getting done before they tour, so when would it get done? And more importantly, if this is for a FM record, will we ever get another solo record, and when would he ever tour solo again, with all this going on???

it was in the part of the interview that was not aired. supposedly Stevie's staff held back that part but Paphides reiterated what she said.

i know, that's my worry too. with all the politics and snail pace that we are used to with FM recordings, i really didn't look forward to any new Mac album considerations. Mick says they will not tour behind any new music, so if there would be an EP or an album, if you believe what he says, that would definitely not happen before the tour. which gives Lindsey more time to add another leg to his current solo tour!:angel::cool:

but like you, i want Lindsey to continue releasing his new music and touring solo - he seems to really be in the groove for the last 6 years! nobody wants a repeat of 90s when he had recorded all that spectacular music some of which still hasn't seen the light of the day.:distress:

Really worried an album might FOLLOW their tour - OMG how long would we be without our boy? :distress:

I simply hope that she finds a new way out of it. I don't like IYD and she will never go for an edgy production. The guys will, though, so take week, let John improvise, record it, mix it, and make it an album under a new groupname. Club Keller or something.

I'm on the same page as you but I just assumed it'd come out as a Lindsey solo album. As I said in the other forum:

"Lindsey solo stuff (hopefully) with Mick on drums would be fantastic. Mick on 8 songs that have a bit of oomph and another 2-3 with Lindsey doing his solo guitar and voice thing and we've got an album there!

Never mind wasting time on the Mac tour, Lindsey, just release that album and tour behind it!"

The Big Machine . . .

Touring with Fleetwood Mac is the Big Machine that supports the Small Machine (solo work). While it may be possible to have the Small Machine without the Big Machine, it may require sacrifices that LB is unwilling to make (hence, his position that one supports the other, including long-term financial stability for his young wife and family, as well as a lifestyle that he/they may be acustomed to, including a boutique shop that probably struggles to break even in this tough economy). The thing that surprised me most is the statement that the eight new tunes are "fresh and young." I would have thought that these type of tunes would be more suited to his solo work and FM songs would be songs that perpetuate the Lindsey-Stevie romance that ended long ago (e.g., Deep Dense).
