American Idol....

so, i was watching E! this morning, and from what i can see, both steven tyler AND jennifer lopez have left American Idol... which, in my Stevie Nicks obsessed mind means she should be a judge on the show. who's with me here? right? how do we get something like that trending on the interwebs? :p

i'd LOVE it! but it won't happen... Idol is beig chased down by The Voice in ratings among 18-49 demo so they are going to get younger judges. guarantee it! i also can't Stevie committing to such an itensive schedule , nor sitting through those horrific auditions. her life is too comfortable now. JLO and Steven Tyler neede career revivals, Stevie's has neve really gone away except for her early 90's klonopin haze.

StandbackStevie 07-14-2012 05:23 AM

cool Idea but I don't think American Idol will be much longer on the air the ratings are really down, Even I don't watch it anymore only watched it when Stevie was on that was it for this season for me or any other unless she goes back on the show if there is one this season. I would rather see her do a new album than be a judge.

No i-DULL. considering how she is always going on an how the music business is broken ,this is one of the reason

I agree .The music Biz is dull.If they start producing music that make since like the old days.Back when Rumours was out .Almost all the tunes in the top 40 were great. Now if we are lucky to get a half a dozen that are good in the top 40.Music died in the 1990's way before the internet freeloaders hijack the tunes.

One think I do like with today tunes is the beat. Its very catchy.

TV is in the same dept as music .Its the pits.

Hahahaha Its my age.

I would love to see Stevie weekly on tv.As long it does not get in the way of her touring. This would be a good reason to me to go out to buy a 60 big screen tv.

I agree .I just heard on the radio that Steve is leaving to get the band back up and running.

Ed McMahon's Star search had a 12 year run .It was revived with Arsenio Hall for a season in 2003 which probably American Idol killed it off.

american idol is DEAD!

QueenStevie 07-17-2012 11:10 AM

Aretha Franklin, who's one of the most highly respected singers in the industry, says she really wants to be an Idol judge. So, if that's the case, I don't think the show is going down in popularity as quickly as some think it is. If not one of the regular, full-time judges, then maybe Stevie Nicks can have a gig on Idol as a guest judge for one or two of the theme weeks.

sushud82 07-17-2012 11:28 AM

I thought the same thing when I heard that J.Lo and Steven Tyler were leaving. I heard this morning they are considering using celebrity guests with 1-season contracts. If that's the case she might be able to fit it in if Idol survives the next few years. It could be a good gig for her.

I like the idea of Stevie judging but then I'd have to watch American Idol! Shudder.

Regardless of what you think of American Idol (dead, not dead, good, bad, dull, etc...) Stevie just doesn't have time for it.

Jennifer Lopez has said more than once that she's relieved to leave the show because she'll actually have time for her own projects. I can't imagine Stevie having the time for a gig like that.

I hardly believe being a judge on Idol is a huge commitment of ones time. Yes, they have to travel to auditions for a few weeks. But during the actual live tapings, it's just a matter of showing up, responding to the contestants, and then going home. There are no scripts to memorize or technical rehearsals. In aggregate, it's probably about 30 days of work per season- not a bad gig at all! That still leaves plenty of time for writing, recording or just vegging. It's a ridiculously cush gig for the money they are paying, and Stevie would be a fool for turning it down if given the opportunity. Yes, I would prefer if she didn't do this; I don't think it is consistent with her artistic persona. But at the same time I would love to see her on national live television for two or three hours every week.

I don't want her to do it, but I do think a season of exposure on this show will increase her concert box offices. I bet Jennifer Lopez is pulling in higher numbers now when she tours and Tyler hopes to realize those too. Not to mention possible commercial endorsements.

Stevie does nothing (that we know of) but tour a couple months per year and the odd random visit to Walter Reed. This still leaves her with no time to (seemingly) really accomplish anything else. Her last album took - how long - 6 months to finish?

That 30 days of work for AI is spread over the better part of a year - the live show alone (after the top 16/18/24 are picked) is almost three months of live filming every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Can you imagine Stevie showing up on time to anything three days per week - even if it's only for three months?

I'd be fine with her taking the job. It would be entertaining. :woohoo:

But that's the thing... commercial endorsements. Stevie has never come within ten feet of allowing her music or her image to sell products. By contrast, J.lo is selling cars, makeup, hair products and lady shavers; Stevie would never do these things. Surely, Stevie could easily be a spokesmodel for anti-aging creams and hair products. And a Stevie perfume would be ridiculously obvious. But I don't think Stevie is interested in money that much. As such, a high profile national gig like this would be kind of wasted on her.
