M&G questions and discussions?
many people have now met Lindsey at all those meet and greets and i assume got to ask him some interesting questions about things we were curious about.
i thought it would be nice to have all this newly acquired information in one thread. |
Great idea! Can't wait to read everyone's responses.

I saw this on Tumblr - this is not my encounter. I'm not sure if the person is a member here or not. If you are, hi!

i will start with what i heard that seems like info of interest, but has been sprinkled around different specific show threads... and is not a personal conversation.
Everyone - song that was on the original Belly Up setlist but never played, and was supposedly a new song that's a companion song to Dancing that LB performed at 2 first Cali shows only. he avoided giving any details about this song when asked about it. he tried to stir the conversation towards Dancing and said he played it only twice. 2013 FM tour - FM is going into rehearsals in january and starting a tour probably some time in march. Tusk deep cuts - asked LB whether he'd consider doing Walk A Thin Line if he must do a big machine tour next year. he seemed intrigued and pleasantly surprised by that suggestion and it seemed to have stayed in his mind for at least a day. hope he still remembers when they start putting together the setlist for the tour. GOS bootleg / Deep Dense - told him how much i love GOS 2001 and how great of an album it would have been. see a separate thread we have about this topic. apparently there's a fast and a slow version. although we all know about a number of different versions - from very rough to pretty much polished (thanks for sharing all these different versions Gerald!), they seem to all be the same tempo. are the versions we know fast or slow? solo UK tour - every time he saw Viv, LB spontaneously started talking about the UK tour. he said that now that he knows that solo alone thing is working that he might consider just going to the UK alone. next time when Viv talked to him he said he might do some UK dates solo next summer... might be a problem - or not? - if he's touring with mac next year? maybe he can do a few dates in the midst of FM tour kind of like he did with Soundstage during SYW? either way, he's definitely thinking about it. (sorry Viv for stealing your thunder but you are not writing anything! :p ) more SWS songs? - Lindsfan asked him why is he not doing more SWS songs on this tour. he said that he did so many SWS songs on the last year's tour that he wanted to change up a bit. plus that he was a bit unsure how the whole show alone will work, so he wanted to do songs that he was comfortable with doing alone/acoustically and knew were working... but now when he knows this approach is working he wants to add more / other songs. it was not clear whether that would be still during this tour or he's thinking of some future tour. (probably not this tour. :() (sorry Lindsfan for stealing your thunder but you are not writing anything! :p ) box set of all LB songs, demos, live versions, etc - Nico had suggested this to him and he said "well then, maybe that's what i'll do?!" (sorry Nico for stealing your thunder, i know you are planning to write the Pittsburgh show review!:xoxo::angel:) that's all i can remember for now... please add your conversations and tidbits that you feel might be of interest and are not too personal to share.:wavey: |

That's me! It seemed like EVERYONE at the Columbus show had a BN record for him. |

lol Elle - I'm glad you did it for me! I am just too busy with next travel plans ;) Poor Lindsey - going to be nagged by me all over again :D |
I am going to the upcoming meet'n'greet and was bringing my BN album for him to personalize (it's already been signed). I see that's old hat, apparently!
I'm not sure what I'll ask him yet. However, I am certainly hoping for a hug and a kiss! |

i can't believe you really want him to be opening for someone?! collaborating with Jack White - now that would be cool. but open? why?! |

have fun - and please report back Nancy what did you ask him! :wavey: (i know people have asked him all kind of interesting stuff but nobody sees to be willing to tell us... of course that is people who were not just starstruck, giggling or feeling too rushed to come up with something - maybe that was the case for most?) someone in front of Abbi and me asked him about Brian Wilson and he was saying all kinds of interesting stuff. once i have some time i'll probably paste here Abbi's and Matt's questions and LB's responses from the specific show threads, b/c those were interesting too. |

while i may be as annoyed as you that argument about something that SN does for unclear reasons turns around into something unrelated LB does, i still don't want to see LB opening for anybody - for a number of reasons that i listed there. he's doing great without the opener. do you want him to play in bigger venues? i don't, i love the intimate feel and gorgeous look of venues he plays in. the only reason i can see that you would want him be on the bill with someone else, like Jack White, is to expose their audiences to their respective music - e.g., to have Jack White's audience see how amazing LB is - especially considering they are both great guitarists? if i'm honest, personally i would love to see a show with both of them since i like both of their music. but i would HATE see LB opening for anybody at this stage of his career. sorry. |
of course, Jack White IS touring right now... post about venue sizes he plays in - http://rockcandy.omaha.com/2012/06/0...sold-out-show/

I asked him to sign my coffee plant demos and he
tried to choke me. Lindsey Buckingham and Jack White This would be a dream come true. Lindsey travels to Third Man Records for this collaboration. Jack makes sure Lindsey records a Rock Album. It gets done in less than two weeks. As everyone knows, Jack doesn't waste time. And there'll be no whispering on this record. It rejuvenates Lindsey's career. It carries over to Fleetwood Mac. Under Jack's direction, Fleetwood Mac records it's best album since Tusk. On the tour that follows the Mac totally change up the tired set list. During the last leg of the tour Jack joins the Mac onstage to perform Seven Nation Army. With the critical and financial success of the new album and tour, Fleetwood Mac announce their retirement. Everyone's happy including the fans. |
