Deep Dense - fast and slow version?!?!?
ok, so i told LB at the m&g how much i love the original GOS from 2001. and asked him about the GOS1 leftover songs that he didn't officially release yet.
specifically i asked him about Deep Dense - and whether he knows what song i'm talking about. he said yes. i told him to please release it just as he recorded it b/c it's just so gorgeous as it is. not to re-record it like he did with some songs (i'm looking at you Gerald, and thinking of She Smiled Sweetly :p). i guess he can re-mix it, but he really needs to leave the voice etc as is. he said, well ok... but which version? the fast one or the slow one?:confused::confused::confused::confused: so..... i only know of one version. there might be slight variations of it, but i would think that's the "slow" version... does anybody know of some other versions?? faster or slower than the one we all know and love? (it was hard to pursue the question any further b/c they were shooing me off since i probably hogged 2x my time already by that point... i could hear LB's manager going "oh for goodness sake" ) |
I want that song released, but the lyrics are hardly even fully formed and the sound is muffled. I hope he does re-record it.
Also, Given Thing and Wear You Down. Then, I will have all the GOS songs I want. I think I have two versions of the song somewhere, but they are both the same tempo. One is not faster than the other, on mine. If it is an old Stevie song, I'm sure they could whip that out before January. Kind of like a marriage, baby. Michele |

now Given Thing is really just rudimentary - both music and lyrics. and Wear You Down doesn't even have any lyrics either, but music is good. Deep Dance version(s) that i got off of here when various people were posting it sounds GREAT to me. i LOVE LOVE LOVE the way he pronounces words of it - same as i loved original She Smiled Sweetly. yeah, it may need a bit of different mixing, kind of like what he did with original GOS songs that he put on SYW or UTS - but that's it!! (please don't listen to Michele Lindsey, she doesn't know what she's talking about;) ). |
Well, you won't be happy anyway, because if he records it, he will put the gal on it.;)
So, yes Lindsey, use the demo like Elle said, but lay Stevie's vocals on top. Michele |

Ok, you inserted the song in my mind, which is something I don't mind having there, and I went and listened so I could specifically say what I want.
Instrumental is fine. The chorus is great and I like his deep voice on that, even if it is slowed down and manipulated. The ending "there's something [really/very?] different" should stay. But what I want is for him to re-record his vocal on the main verses. Quote:
I'd prefer he'd take the marbles out of his mouth, sit up straight and enunciate, so I can follow the lunatic's laughter. But this is beautiful. It's going to be a top 10 or a top 12 for me, if he does it. Michele |
Deep Dense????
He sounds like he's been on a 3-day bender in that one. I used to love those demos (except for DD). I work from home sometimes--doing a very boring second job and that would make the time just zip on by. |

I don't have any of the GOS 1 demos.... where might I find them?

I was looking for Deep Dense's lyrics and got a youtube link as part of the google search. I went on there, for curiosity...and there were some others. Youtube has everything but the kitchen sink on there (although...it probaby has that, too). |

i'd say this is a slow version (and is really the only version i heard)... but who knows? also, Wildhearted, check your PMs. |
I'm just beginning to wonder about the three skeletons on the cover.
