Dead Sara

There is a new band out now from LA, they are called Dead Sara. They took their name from mis-hearing the lyrics to "Sara" the line "said Sara you're the poet in my heart...." was mis heard as "dead Sara.....". The lead anger of the band kept that in mind and when she formed the band used the name. They say they are influenced by Heart and Alice In Chains. But clearly there is a Stevie influence there too. Their song publishing company is called "LA Rumours".
I picked up the album today, it's a hard rock punk sound, the lead singer has a raspy screechy growl. I really like it.

I like Dead Sara too! It' kind of a bummer that the lead singer (Emily Armstrong) doesn't do some lighter stuff- more like "sorry for it all" and less like "weatherman", because her voice really is outstanding. Still, I'll probably buy the album because they are a very talented, honest group that is great live as well.

Interesting, I guess this isn't the same Emily Armstrong, but there is a "dead Sara" connection....

There are some slower songs on the album, one called "Dear Love", another called "Face To Face" and the first track on the album "Whispers and Ashes" is a mid tempo song.

Wow that's kind of eerie. From everything I've read they took the name from the mis-heard lyric, but it's sort of like Stevie writing "Rhiannon" based on a name in a book and finding out later that her song actually fit the mythology pretty well.
