The reality of Reality TV

Thought I'd share this well written blog which describes what it's like to go on Britain's Got Talent

With apologies for some of the language which some people may find offensive

I agree fervently with what this lady has to say. I abhor reality television and it's predilection to use and humiliate people for the sake of "entertainment". They constantly needle away, willing the person in the spotlight to break in order to get a scene worth watching by drones who pay them the money to do so. It's nothing short of abusive.

She plays the cello in a string quartet called Raven. They're not like a normal classical string quartet as they play mainly rock music.

If you on twitter it's @ravenquartet or @strungoutblog for the blog

Reality TV SUCKS.Not a fan of these shows.Cheap to produce.A quick fix for the networks to fill time slots.Whats left on tv is garbage.Due to crappy scriptwriters.

Turn the clocks back 15- 20 years of more.Thats good tv.

Besides the news, there's hardly a regular show I
watch except for Boardwalk Empire. The seasons
are so short, it seems like it's over before you know it.

The cheesy reality shows I watch are:
An Idiot Abroad
Swamp People
Survivor

I'm sure I could live without them.

I take that comment from the last post i did.95 percent is rubbish heres some of the 5 percent that I do enjoy.

Survivor I do like.Plus Boardwalk Empire is good.Also I do enjoy America's Funniest Video's.

I don't like the American Idol format.I prefer the old Starsearch with Ed McMahon.

That Up All Night show that Stevie appeared in was boring and not funny at all.Her part was the only funny part of the show.

The problem with scripted shows on television these days is that they are so unoriginal or are based on some tiresome gimmick that wears off very quickly. Sitcoms are the worst- all the characters are built around some variation of the wise-cracking snarky/sarcastic archetype with just enough of a character flaw to elicit derision and mockery from the other wise-cracking/sarcastic characters on the show. And I vomit in my mouth when I see all of these flawless, uber-attractive people on these shows bemoaning their inability to get dates or to get people to notice them. Puhlease! That being said, I am breathlessly awaiting the return of The Big C and Weeds on Showtime. Yes, Weeds is chock full of those wise-cracking/snarky characters, but the humor is sooo dark that it works.

I loves me some reality! And for whatever reason, Andy Cohen and Bravo know how it's done; I am not a big fan of the other networks. Every once in a while they crank out total unwatchable duds (e.g., Pregnant in Heels, It's a Brad Brad World, Million Dollar Design, Miami Social, Most Eligible: Dallas, Seven by Design, etc.). But the Housewives shows are totally infectious and I'm even loving the new Shahs of Sunset. Sometimes the "storylines" are mundane, but that's the nature of reality. I mean, do you think a scripted show would feature a scene of somone receiving a high colonic? I love the fact that sometimes it's just about two "friends" getting together and yentering it up and talking smack about other people. That's how it works in real life!

Pretty close to the best damned show on TV.

I'm sure that Ricky Gervais has the footage edited to only show Karl's most painful moments...in the season finale, Karl actually has some nice things to say about the places he visited.

Cool, at least someone else here likes it.

I hope they'll do a season three.
