The Voice

Anyone watching? I did not watch last season, so I didn' tknow what to expect. So far, I'm extremely impressed. The first "battle" show was last night & holy sh*t - these people can SING! Love the unique format of the battle rounds: working & mentoring together, then separately, then performing together & harmonizing while actually competing & trying to beat your partner. Emotional at times - what great TV!

I can't believe they sent Angie home! I loved her!

Don't you think these singers tend to be better than on American Idol? That was my impression.

What I like about these other singing talent shows like AGT and The Voice, is I notice the sound in the auditorium is so much better sounding than on Idol for some reason. And I never could place why that is other than maybe the acoustics or something being better on other shows. But to me, Idol always seemed muffled and like they were singing in a tight place or too karaoke somewhere in some bar. The other talent shows, the singers voices seem to hit up in the rafters with much better sound.

Agreed. And I think not being able to see the contestants helps too. AI is too focused on "the whole package" and not just "the voice" so they pass through a lot of mediocre pretty singers.

I do. And that may be partly due to the fact that there are less restrictions - these are professional singers. Many of these people have already had record deals, albums released, national tours, etc. Not sure if there's a rule that they can't have a CURRENT deal? Either way, I really don't care. I love it.

I did disagree with Christina picking the opera-ish guy over the power-belting chick who did The Power of Love. She hit it out of the park, and I honestly thought he was pitchy at times. Also would have preferred Adley over RaeLynn, but that's just personal preference. LOVED Cheesa, I think she's truly unique. And Anthony vs. Jesse? Wow. Epic performances. I think Jesse's "bay-bay-bay-BABY!" growl at the end clinched it for him, but I liked Anthony a tiny bit better. They definitely brought the best out in eachother.

And I am sad to say - I think I am finally over Idol. :( It just seems very cheesy to me now, like a variety show - amateurish performances, terrible musical arrangements. I watched the first round of men's performances & I wasn't that impressed. I may watch when it gets to Top 12, but only if there's nothing better on. :sorry:

I have'nt watch the show since Stevie's appearance last year. How is it going.

I think the singers here tend to be better because they are allowed to be "known". I have been a fan of Tony Lucca's for years, and he has a bunch of albums out, and that's the case for a number of contestants. I hope he does well on the show!

Yup. My thoughts exactly. I gave up after last season and vowed not to watch this year. I don't really know if the departure of Simon Cowell had anything to do with it, but after he left, the show just got really stale. I'm done with it.

Yes

I've been watching The Voice although, I must say, right now it's really boring, pairing them up, sometimes with two people just that are totally different. I'll just be glad when they get to the live shows. I like Jordis. I don't know if anyone remembers her from Rock Star-INXS when they were looking for a new lead singer for INXS. I wanted Jordis to win it & maybe she should have because I don't think the guy they wind up picking panned out.

I also have been watching Idol. I mean what else is on but reality shows anymore. So I like Hollie & Phillip, and I'm thinking a young guy will win again because it's just the young girls voting or so it seems.

Lee :)
