Personal REFLECTION Poll - Vote Now!!

At long last, the REFLECTION poll!! This was really hard to narrow down. I know I said I was going to include Without a Leg to Stand On, but as it's already moved on to the next round, via another poll, I decided to let another song take it's place.

Remember, these are songs about personal reflection - career oriented reflection ( e.g., Underground, Bel Air rain ) will be a different poll.

So, have at it! :)

I love these polls! Lindsfan, your song choices here are wonderful...give me some time. :wavey:

Lindsfan 03-04-2012 01:41 AM

Shadow of the West...not Shadows. :distress: Poor Lindsay. It's always something...

Don't worry about that error, Lindsfan. Did you see that I forgot to click the part where we could see who votes on my poll? Oh well. Human error.

Yes, I did see that  But at least I learned from it, right?

Can't Go Back or Walk a Thin Line would have been possible too, even End Of Time, but I voted for his careerspanning stagemonster. What else?

  • Can't Go Back - cute song, fun sounding - another song in the vein of happy music / painful lyrics that lindsey does so well
  • Cast Away Dreams - like it, so gentle, depending on the mood i may love it or consider it musically a bit pedestrian for my taste
  • End of Time - LOVE the lyrics, music so-so although catchy; first time i heard it at Saban and kept thinking of REM
  • Family Man - nah
  • Flying Down Juniper - eh
  • Go Insane - LOVE both versions, some powerful sentiment nicely expressed especially in the acoustic version, although the original version is yet another example of painful sentiment with happy catchy melody and strumming
  • I'm So Afraid - LOVE LOVE LOVE this song - such a monster at the concert! loved it every. single. time. that i was lucky enough to experience it during his live shows. and not just the guitar solo, the way he sings it too. but of course the guitar solo - there's nobody who doesn't think RESPECT when they experience lindsey doing ISA during the live show!!:]
  • The Right Place To Fade - i have huge fondness for this song - it is this perfect little musically happy song with that gorgeous melodic guitar solo at the end. and i LOVE it when he talk-sings fast!
  • Shadow of the West - huge fondness for this one too, especially the countryish guitar parts. not that fond of a bit-too-mellow singing parts of the song.
  • Walk a Thin Line - LOVE!!!!! :xoxo: such a perfect ballad. the most beautiful ballad lindsey ever wrote in my opinion. the lyrics are so painful and thoughtful and delusional (probably not the way he originally meant them...). and the music goes with words so perfectly. demo version that was really without lyrics was not nearly as good. however, tusk version is a bit overdone in arrangement imo - that should all be dropped and it should be made into just purely acoustic ballad (in the manner of deerhunter cover). i would love it so much if lindsey would rework it acoustically and perform it in live shows!!:xoxo:

so my top would have to be GI, ISA, RPTF and WATL... and WATL wins, closely followed by ISA.

please lindsey consider doing acoustic version of WATL in some future live shows!!

I felt like giving Right Place to Fade some love, but I went with Go Insane.

I think cast away dreams is relli floaty and so beautiful, so much emotion you just wanna hug lindsey lol

Lindsfan 03-05-2012 12:38 AM

•Can't Go Back - does nothing for me.
•Cast Away Dreams - LOVE it...especially acoustic version recorded at his home
•End of Time - LOVE the lyrics, music so-so although catchy; first time i heard it at Saban and kept thinking of REM ( couldn't say it any better than Elle! )
•Family Man - It's OK, but that's about it.
•Flying Down Juniper - I LOVE this song. The guitar is really cool, and I like the overall nostalgic vibe. I know it has a lot of haters, but I think it's a great song!
•Go Insane - Love - no, LOVE! - both versions! Soooo emotional. The acoustic version, live in concert, it is just scary good...he really seems to get lost in it.
•I'm So Afraid - LOVE this. Live, it's in a class all it's own. No matter how many times I hear it, the solo always blows me away! I was lucky enough to be at his feet ( holding his boot ) when he played this, which makes it even more special.
•The Right Place To Fade - Very top of the list of songs he hasn't played in concert, that I would love for him to do. This song is so cool. The lyrics, the music...LOVE everything about it!!
•Shadow of the West - Still not a fan of much from L&O. This song is just OK. One of the better ones from that album, I guess...but that doesn't mean a lot.
•Walk a Thin Line - Try as I might, I can't get into this. I like it in the context of the whole album ( i.e., I don't skip it ), but by itself, it does nothing for me.

I still have no idea which I'm voting for...I currently have it narrowed down to 5 choices :distress: I wish I was better at making up my mind.
