favorite personal growth song

Lindsey wrote a number of what Lindsfan termed personal growth songs, most of them during his OOTC phase:

Countdown
Doing What I Can
Don't Look Down
Turn It On
You Do Or You Don't
Soul Drifter
Surrender The Rain
This Is the Time
That's All For Everyone
World Turning

[if it turns out that we are still missing a good number of personal growth / moving on songs we can add another poll for similar topic.]

Voted for Don't Look Down but also strongly considered Countdown, Doing What I Can, and TIO.

Most difficult poll yet - I could have voted for umpteen of these.

Chose Soul Drifter just because........

Countdown for me. I love it......Makes me happy.:) But I'd like to stress.....this was real tough. lol

ok, let's see:
  • Countdown - like, but nothing unique, sounds like so many other songs
  • Doing What I Can - like a lot
  • Don't Look Down - LOVE
  • Turn It On - LOVE
  • You Do Or You Don't - LOVE
  • Soul Drifter - like, but music is way too midstream poppy for my taste
  • Surrender The Rain - like, but i'm not into lindsey's rain songs as much as other people seem to be
  • This Is the Time - love
  • That's All For Everyone - dislike
  • World Turning - love

Don't Look Down, You Do Or You Don't and Turn It On are my 3 favorite OOTC songs - i love them way above all others on that album.

since YDOYD is already going into the next round as a winner of Buck-Dashut co-written songs, i will try to choose between TIO and DLD.

i will probably have to go with DLD (only fair - since i already voted for TIO in the other poll = trying to spread my love:woohoo:), but can't believe there seems to be so little love for TIO - such a great song, positive personal growth message, and it was so great on SWS tour!!:xoxo:

OOTC really stands out in this batch and its fairly impossible to choose between them. If I chose a song, it would be Doing What I Can and not because it's my favorite, but because I overlooked it, until I heard it in concert.

That's All For Everyone. It's always felt, in my mind anyway, as a big "Fudge You!" to his past in a want for something new. As though he's trying to dismiss everything that happened because he wants to move forward without those ever present Ghosts.

yeah. i found that interesting when trying to put together his songs by the topic - and ending up finding out that topics largely coincide with different periods in his life:

anti-love / angry = mostly Tusk
personal growth = mostly OOTC

maybe this was completely obvious to everybody else (and i'm sure it must be to lindsey), but for me it took grouping songs by the topic to understand this.

since we'll probably do his reflection song list next (although maybe not; business-related / political list might be much easier to assemble and seem much shorter), what LB phases will reflection list of songs coincide with? probably UTS-now?

go for it - it certainly deserves a vote!:wavey:

i'm rethinking whether or not to vote for DLD - b/c i think the part i like the best of that song is instrumental intro - and although we are counting instrumental intros as a part of the song in this poll, CAD will make a separate poll for instrumentals and intros so i can still have my chance to vote for it there... although i have no doubt Stephanie will win there.:distress:

Yes. And that song didn't do anything for me on the album. I thought it rocked live. The sun is hot.

i think it rocks on the album too, but i've never heard a concert version. that's my 8yo's favorite song on OOTC.
