Past Lives
I think if Stevie had a past life one was in the Victorian age. The capes and dresses that she wears and the fact that she never really smiles in pictures. In the 1800's people did not smile in photographs. During this time photographs replaced portrait painting, and for early photographs and portrait paintings both you didn't want to smile because you were going to be sitting there for a loooooooong time. You wanted a nice relaxed expression so that your muscles wouldn't get tired. Eventually photographic film got fast enough that you didn't need to sit there for a long time, but by then the standard was in place. You smile because you were brought up that people should smile in photographs. They didn't smile because they were brought up that people didn't smile in photographs.Photos way back when were often formal things, for which social norms considered smiling to be inappropriate.
Stevie on her past lives: I think I spent a lot of time in old churches, like a monk. I'm very comfortable around that kind of music, with that kind of creeping around, with being very quiet. My ballet teacher believes that my head was cut off in another life, too. I totally give with my body except for my neck. Even if I go to the beauty salon, I can't put my head back. They have to hold it or it will drop. The same thing happens when I dance or get a massage. It's very weird. ~Stevie Nicks, Playboy, July 1982 [On why she doesn't like to talk about her past lives] I think that side of your consciousness is sort of its own thing, and I don't want to bring that too much into this life. It's like a quiet inspiration. ~Stevie Nicks, Creem Magazine, 1982 |
It was sometime around 2005 that Stevie tells us of a little girl who told her she never smiles in photographs. Since that moment she tries to always smile in pictures and I belive she has succeeded.

She's doing it more now.

Ha. Why didn't Stevie ask a PSYCHIC about her past lives rather than going by what her ballet teacher believed!

In her formal portraits I don't think one has to smile. And I like those better that way. Photos backstage next to fans, whole different story for those fun Kodak moments.

"I think it's so wonderful that authors still write, actors still perform, and musicians still play on the Other Side. And what many study and then lecture about will be brought with them when they incarnate. In other words, nothing ends with the conclusion of earthly life; rather, we just continue where we left off at Home." -Sylvia Browne, Temples On The Other Side
In other words, what she's saying is a lot of our great singers, writers, composers, doctors, and scientists (and the like) came down here with infused knowledge from Home in order to be something great to people here or to use their talents to help others. Surely Stevie falls into this category because she has changed or helped so many people's lives that we know of. FnF More from Sylvia Browne- Temples on the Other Side "I consider anyone who's made a large impact on history or humankind to be notable, so I don't include most actors (the majority of whom won't be remembered 100 years from now) or sports figures in that category. I'm not knocking the entertainment industry because many people do appreciate it, but really famous individuals have usually made a great worldwide impact in some way. That doesn't mean that we all have to be in the limelight, because many who are have told me that it's very difficult, just as anyone's last life usually is. The rich and famous in our society- at least the many whom I've encountered, are more unhappy than you'd believe. It seems that because they're so well known, no one approaches them on a personal level or asks them out since their status is so intimidating, they spend a lot of time alone without any romance in their lives. Their main alternative is to date other celebrities because that's whom they interact with the most..... and this is almost always a recipe for disaster. It's quite difficult to be in love with a famous person because of the amount of attention he or she gets- it takes a very secure individual to deal with always being pushed in the background or to handle the lack of privacy that this person generates and has to fight daily. The reason most marriages between celebrities fail is also usually caused by ego: If one is more popular or has a more successful career, the self-image of the mate takes a hit because that person is generally used to being adored as well. (The movie A Star Is Born is a prime example of this scenario.) In addition, long separations can occur due to the very nature of their careers, and this certainly doesn't help. What most people don't realize is that famous men and women have the same fears, anxieties, and insecurities that we all have.... along with a few of their own, such as "Will people forget me?" "Am I getting too old?" "Who will take care of me when my careers over?" "Will I make enough money?" and so forth. Often, such individuals become hooked on drugs or alcohol and end up like Gloria Swanson's character in the movie Sunset Boulevard. The very wealthy (and of course celebrities can fall into this category) have similar problems. They especially wonder if people love them for themselves or for their money and status, so they find themselves having to look for partners in high society or in richer families because of the fear of gold diggers. Prenuptial agreements run rampant, and they're not a good start to any relationship because they certainly don't indicate that trust is present." |
