Jerry Cantrell Admires LB
Excerpt from 1996 Guitar International Interview with Jerry Cantrell of Alice in Chains
http://guitarinternational.com/2010/...s-man-smiling/ Someday I want to do a song with Elton John. Actually, I’d like to do a song with him, Nigel Olsson and Davey Johnstone. Same thing with Lindsay Buckingham; Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours is still right up there as one of my favorite albums. Of course, I still have to meet these guys. I’m not sure how I’ll do it, but I don’t want to have it arranged by my manager or anything, because then I’d feel like a dick. What am I going to say? “Oh man, you are great I used to listen to you all the time!’ It will have to happen under natural circumstances and not be some corporate thing. But you watch. Someday I’ll do that.” |
Awesome! Thanks Michele. It's always great to read other people acknowledging LB's influence.

I think Cantrell attended the DANCE tapings, too.
He (or someone like him) told the press how refreshing it was to hear a band that actually knew how to play its instruments. I thought of that quote when I heard the tape of R.E.M. trying to play TUSK in a rehearsal. They just had no clue, & that was attributable to their skill set. As a band, they were driving & had a nice looseness, but when you put them in semi-familiar or unfamiliar territory, they stumble like a garage full of weekend warriors. |

I love his work with Alice, he's a big fan of Ann and Nancy Wilson and has worked with them(both from Seattle). Dreamboat Annie and Rumours are both awesome albums from that timespace(76-78)....He was the brains behind AIC sound...their new singer is great...
