Torrey DeVitto on Moonlight Violin

[Excerpt from interview}

You recently played violin on Stevie Nick’s song “Moonlight (A Vampire’s Dream)" on her recent album In Your Dreams. How did that come about?

I grew up playing violin and before I even knew I wanted to act, I always thought that violin was my path in life and that was what I was going to do. And then when I got into acting when I was 15, 16 I still kept up with my violin.

[Stevie Nicks] knew that I played; she’s one of my mom’s best friends, so I’ve known her for a really long time. This song was really close to her, and she was like, ‘I want you to play this and you to play this only.’ So I played for her and we worked together and it was a lot of fun.

Huh? I've always liked Torrey DeVitto (or at least, I think she's stunning). I'm not getting "douche" from this interview at all.

His solo is the best part of this song and I wish it could be heard a bit more. Generally I think Stevie on her future projects should use more violins, strings, etc. Some may call it "overproduction" but I prefer to call it "great arrangement" :)

I like Violin/Fiddle music.I'm not familiar with Torrey DeVitto's work.I like Alison Krauss ,Charlie Daniels and classical violin music.I thought the violinists in Rod Stewarts band were great when I went to see him with Stevie last march.

Isn't Torrey a girl? Or am I really confused?

Yes.

Her Wiki page has Stevie mentions too.

Yes, Torrey is a girl and really quite pretty. She is the daughter of Liberty DeVitto and Stevie's long time good friend Mary. As far as the comment about how she came across in the interview is concerned...I suspect since she has probably known Stevie her entire life, in some ways it wasn't a "big deal" to play on the song, but she seemed honored to have gotten the opportunity.

thank u, that was a stream of consciousness.
I'm normally a terrific speller.

Torrey's an actress, she's been on shows like One Tree Hill, Pretty Little Liars, and now she's gonna be on the Vampire Diaries. She's also married to Paul Wesley.

I didn't get bad vibes from the interview at all - she just explained how it happened. She's known Stevie her whole life, and she still seemed appreciative to be asked to play.

I agree fully about the strings and how they suit Stevie's music - great arrangements like that are what she needs and deserves.

10 Surprising Facts About Chicago Med's Leading Lady Torrey DeVitto
By Jessica Radloff// 1 day ago Glamour magazine

http://www.glamour.com/entertainment...to-chicago-med

You know her as Dr. Natalie Manning on the hit NBC drama, Chicago Med, but before her series regular role on the Dick Wolf franchise, Torrey DeVitto was primed for a career in music. She began playing the violin at age six, and her father, Liberty DeVitto, was the longtime drummer for Billy Joel. (Her mother, Mary, is best friends with Stevie Nicks!) Thanks to her parents' musical connections, Torrey spent most of her early years traveling on the road with them.

2. Your mom was Stevie Nicks' best friend. What's your favorite line from a Stevie Nicks song, and which song best sums up your life? "Yes, they still are best friends. I love and appreciate Stevie's music so much. She is such a beautiful poet, whom I admire deeply. She is like an aunt to me or my 'fairy godmother,' as she likes to put it. I did not grow up listening to her music on my own much because when it is someone so close to you like family, you do not really listen to their music the same way other people do, if that makes sense."

Ha. She could have just faked it and said Landslide.
