Welcome to The Ledge Janet Robin!

A very warm welcome to Janet Robin.

I must confess I taught her how to play
guitar... well maybe not, she's good! And
many of you know her connection to a certain
guitarist that we all like here. If not check out
her website www.janetrobin.com , though there's
much more to her story than that.

Hopefully Janet will start a new thread about
her upcoming release Everything Has Changed.

Welcome! That's so neat that you're here.
I first heard you play at Bimbo's in San Francisco on Lindsey's Out Of The Cradle Tour.
You are so amazing! That's no small feat standing next to Mr. Buckingham on stage. I was a fan right there and still have the original first albums you put out on CD.
I'm so gonna check out your new album!

Greetings from Janet Robin

hey! Nice to meet all of you on The Ledge. Thanks for the warm welcome. I'm happy to be here. Actually, I was just recently at a few of LB's shows out here in California. Had some nice chats with him, and we were remembering old times of having 5 guitar players on stage.. quite an experience back then. I think his new record is the best yet and his shows have been amazing as usual. It was really great to see him and hang for a bit. He's been a mentor to me and I can't think of a better mentor to have.

As some of you may know, I have gone on to do my own solo stuff, although every once in a while I play with other artists. My latest cd is " Everything has Changed" and it was produced by John Carter Cash (son of Johnny and June). We recorded it in Nashville at his Dad's studio, Cash Cabin. Please check it out if you're interested. It was funded completely by fan donations and I am getting ready to release it in the USA. It's been out in Europe already. I also tour quite frequently in the USA and Europe, and you'll find my latest tour dates listed as well as info about the new cd: www.janetrobin.com

I look forward to more threading! :)

Janet

Janet

I saw you working at Cash Cabin (YouTube), that must have
been pretty cool. How was John to work with?

btw, I hope you didn't eat all the honey.

Janet Robin 11-06-2011 03:29 PM

hey! yes, someday I'd like to make it back to OZ. I was there many many years ago when I first started doing solo stuff. My bro lives in Sydney too, so there are other reasons to go.
Maybe in the next few years I'll get a tour put together...

Meanwhile, yes, it was totally amazing working with John Carter Cash at Cash Cabin, very inspiring to be around all the Cash memorabilia and John Carter is as down to earth as they come. His mentor was producer Rick Rubin, so he tried to create an open vibe in the studio with all the musicians and go mainly for the best performance possible. He doesn't push his own agenda and his goal is always to get the best out of the artist, and he definitely did that for me. I'm very grateful. And, no I didn't finish all the honey, I left the rest at the Cabin! :)

I'll have to ask John Carter or Christopher Robin about that.
(Any relations?)

I was listening to your cover of Roy Orbison's Dream Baby
the other day on your website (can't get it out of my head). So
tonight by chance I heard it on YouTube from Howlin' Byroons.
The way you played it live the begining kind of sounded like
Ode To Billy Joe. Was that a conscious decision?

Janet Robin 11-18-2011 03:28 AM

Dream Baby

No relation to Christopher Robin :)

Not a conscious choice in regards to "Dream Baby" and intro to "Ode to Billy Joe" but that's a great song and I've always loved it.. maybe it was unconscious! :)

Glad you like it,
Janet

I look forward to the new CD.
I hope you'll keep us updated
about it.

One request for your busy life?
Could you, would you, should
you post us a special Ledge
video on YouTube? A shout-out
kind of thing.

Janet Robin 12-08-2011 10:17 PM

thanks...and shout out video coming soon!

yes.. I will post a "shout out video" for The Ledge asap. I just returned home from an east coast tour, so been busy...
If people are interested in hearing the new cd, they can at: www.janetrobin.com

I'm planning on releasing it next year 2012, and raising funding for the promotion, anyone can contribute.. even only $10 where you can get the download of the full record.

I appreciate your comments.. and I look forward to posting the video soon on The Ledge!
I'll probably whip out my guitar and play somethin for ya'll :)

That sounds like an early Christmas present to me!
And you're welcome on the comments.

We look forward to the Ledge video and wish you
a very Merry Christmas. And I proclaim 2012 as
the year of Janet Robin!!! I'll even donate my service
as manager to make sure that happens. If you need
a Col. Tom Parker like manager.
