TICKETS: $35, $45 and $ 59.50

Lindsey Buckingham didn’t have to go his own way, at least permanently, to record consistently as a solo artist.

The talented singer-songwriter still comes back for Fleetwood Mac reunions.

“It’s hard to imagine us without Lindsay,” Fleetwood Mac vocalist Stevie Nicks said. “There’s no one quite like him. He has a lot of music in him.”

Buckingham, 62, is proving that. After releasing three solo albums in a quarter century, Buckingham has crafted a troika of discs in half a decade.

“Seeds We Sow,” his latest effort, which dropped last month, is a bit of a departure for Buckingham. It’s the rawest album of his career. Some of the songs sound like demos. It’s refreshing to hear songs, warts and all, in a producer’s era, in which virtually every cut is cleaned up. Buckingham’s tunes are still elegant and intimate, but it’s nice to hear them without unnecessary sheen.

“It’s good to do things a little differently at times,” Buckingham said. “You don’t want to keep repeating yourself.”

But what Buckingham does repeat is welcome. He continues to write terrific love songs, which are hardly ubiquitous these days.

“It’s true,” Buckingham said. “There aren’t as many love songs out there today. But it’s something I’m compelled to do.”

That’s been one of his strengths going back to Fleetwood Mac’s ’70s hey day. “That’s the Way Love Goes” and “Stars Are Crazy” are perfect examples of new strong love songs from Buckingham. All of the songs work well unadorned. Buckingham’s new direction coincided with a move from his longtime major label home, Warner Brothers, to his own label, Mind Kit Records.

“This is a great time for a recording artist to venture out on his own,” Buckingham said. “I don’t have to rely on anyone else to do what I want to do.”

All Buckingham needs is some free time from his main gig with Fleetwood Mac.

“I told the band that I needed to put up a boundary,” Buckingham said. “I need to do some things on my own.”

Buckingham has been inspired by his wife and three young children, who are 13 and under.

“They reinvigorated me,” Buckingham said. “I think I’ve been more creative since I’ve had these children and watched them grew up. It certainly has had an effect on me.”

Expect Buckingham to toss in some Fleetwood Mac favorites.

“That’s always fun,” Buckingham said. “But the most fun I’m having right now is creating new material and going out and touring behind it.”

I wonder when she said that? Hard. I would say it's impossible to imagine. It was "hard" in 1987.

This was my fourth concert, and the 2nd stop on my Lindsey Amp tour. Although, this time it was the left amp--far less intrusive than the right. But, the woofer or the tweeter or whatever the hell those things are called was actually puffing out air at me when I went to the stage. My ears no longer ring when I do stuff like that. I figure Miracle Ear is probably just a few steps away now.

GREAT show. I was a little annoyed with the folks on my side. For a good while, I was the only person in the entire section (I think) to stand. But, when GYOW started, I just made a beeline for the stage and felt more "at home." The folks in my section DID love the show and were enthusiastic, just not getting up. Which, I guess, is fine. I just don't want Lindsey to feel discouraged.

What oddities did I notice? For some reason, I could swear Lindsey stopped himself at the beginning of the song from doing the end (when he maniacly strums). I may be totally wrong but...I thought he lost his place for a split second. Just a hand movement more than anything else. And the "ooh" "ahhs" struck me as being really funny. They were very enthusiastic and...I just "went there" in my mind. Usually, I try to behave. I think I actually did laugh (out loud).

He hiked up his pants toward the end of the show. He really has no behind anymore to hold those things up.

There was a lady in front who was, apparently, (I couldn't hear her) telling Lindsey how much his music meant to her, or something to that effect. She was talking A LOT and Lindsey just kept thanking her (this was during band intros before Brett could fully introduce Lindsey)...and, finally, Brett sort of interrupted by saying "do you two need a moment?" then he apparently forgot where he was and got a cue from Neal. It was funny. "Living legend..."

When Lindsey was doing the hand shaking before Big Love (someone at my hotel called it "looking out for love") he made his wrist go all limp and really played it up. Kinda cute.

And, what else? I forget. I came really, really early but I was by myself so...sitting across the street looking at the tour bus seemed a bit sad to me and I went back to my hotel;-)

Molly Pitcher Inn is gorgeous, by the way. Lindsey should have stayed there!

Lindsey needs to start wearing a belt -- or suspenders. That Larry King look might suit him. Anyway, it's imperative that he do something. We don't want him to have a wardrobe malfunction.

That's hilarious that Neale said "do you two need a moment."

I was there too last night and I thought he was very engaging with the crowd. More than I saw back in CT in September.

I'm with you. I can't say what exactly, but he did really seem a BIT too into it.

Ha! I didn't even notice this! Well the hiking up the pants part. The other part, yeah. He is soooo skinny. This man needs some fries!

I was standing literally behind her and her LOUD friends. I swear she wouldn't shut up. Lindsey handed her a pick and a sweaty towel and another one to her friend. These were not the women I expected Lindsey to spend his time on. Not by a long shot. I was a bit surprised that he was all into that. Anyway, I was also very annoyed because just after all the attention, they were screaming to one another, which i thought was very rude for us around them and also for Lindsey. Ugh, so frustrating. And Regina, you were probably right next to us at this point.

So happy I went!

I just couldn't believe she was talking that much. And I did notice him handing them stuff (maybe to shut them up???) Weird. People are really, really strange. When I went up to the stage, I actually stood in front of that huge amp on the left side and that's usually a place no one really wants to be since it's loud;-) I'm kind of quiet when I'm by myself.

I had a great time, though. I really do hope he tours again in the US next year. I think there might be a chance since there's no FM tour (in all likelihood). I would go again in a heartbeat.

AbbiJoy78 11-07-2011 12:52 PM

Thank you Elle for recording that!!!! To know I was right next to you for this and had the same viewpoint makes me even more excited. And just his face in that still of ISA...omg, LOL:blob1: Whew...is it hot in here???!!

I was going to buy a ticket to this from a fellow Ledgie, but my friend could not go with me, and i had issues leaving work early.....THEN my boyfriend was able to go even tho he had obligations before, and i decided i was going to "ditch" work after all, which wasn't good, but hey sometimes you just NEED to indulge yourself!!:D So, I went onto the theater's website, and scored those 4th row tickets at the very last minute before leaving work!!! SOOOO GLAD I DID!!!
