2 years ago, i was asian joan jett.
this year, i am SO going as asian stevie nicks (circa 1976). i already got the top hat, i've been looking around for a leotard and black chiffon shrouds...
oh, and i need a big blonde curly wig to sort of make sure everyone else knows i'm not going as Slash.

Well....yes! I've been putting together a Stevie outfit for about a year now, and wore parts of it to the two shows I went to this year. Both times I was nervous that I was being a freak, but both times it was totally awesome, and the people that talk to you when you're wearing that are cool. :) I didn't think about it when I started, but a Stevie outfit has about a zillion pieces, and acquiring them becomes kind of a hobby unto itself. Hopefully I have about everything that I need - I don't want to end up on My Strange Addiction... :)

duder, u won't be on "my strange addiction" but I'd cast you in a second if there was a show called "I do awesome things" :)

Yeah, I have to agree.

I was working towards becoming one of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, which is an order of drag nuns who do charitable works for the GLBT community. And I don't really do drag, so I was starting from scratch. After I did it a few times I realized it just wasn't for me and will help out the organization in other ways. But I have to say, putting together the makeup and the outfits alone can get quite costly. I was only dipping my toe into the pool and it cost a pretty penny. They joke that they take a vow of poverty because all their money goes to makeup and clothing. LOL! But I now totally understand how putting together even one Stevie outfit can be both time consuming and costly, so good for you. I hope you'll be kind enough to post a photo when you're outfit is complete.

I can totally relate! I've been Stevie about 5 or 6 times now for Halloween and did two impersonator shows. I always like to improve upon the last outfit so I'm making a new shawl this year, which is a lot of freaking work. And you're right, there are a million pieces to be Stevie!! I totally get obsessed with it but in the end it is a lot of fun!

I'm toying with the idea but I'm not sure if it's gonna come to fruition. It depends on if I can find a wig or a skirt in time.

UndoingTheLaces 10-18-2011 08:39 PM

I wonder if there is a non-drag Stevie related costume I could wear. Maybe Dave Stewart in the Moonlight video. No, that's still drag. LOL! Maybe I'll go as Waddy. Except I'd be a pretty fat Waddy considering how skinny he is. People would think I was trying to be Bruce Vilanch.

Macfanforever 10-18-2011 09:10 PM

I got the hair like Waddy.I just got to get a electric giutar with a battery amp.and play the beginning of EO17.That will do.Or do a Stevie.

Kim! I would love to see a pic of that. You're a cool chick. It was good to meet you.

Jondalar 10-19-2011 04:07 AM

we should send letters and stuff to Stevie for Halloween instead of Christmas, it's her favorite holiday
