The Fleetwood Mac Songs (Part Two) - Survivor Challenge - Round Two

Here is what has been kicked out so far:

Round One: Love is Dangerous
Round One: Welcome to the Room...Sara

Onto round two...

Never understood all the Fireflies love. It's nothing special to me. I voted for WISYA and Straight Back.

I never got Fireflies either and That's Alright, while somewhat catchy, has always been way too country for my taste. Plus that opening "Meet me down by the railway station" line is total cheeseball.

KarmaContestant 09-27-2011 02:33 PM

No Questions Asked (again)

and...

Straight Back. A good song on it's own, but not really great when standing in a lineup against the others.

Straight Back and No Questions Asked. Straight Back isn't bad or anything, but it's not as good as the others imo.

It's so strange, I totally dislike country but That's Alright is easily a top 3 FM song for me. I have such a special place in my heart for that song it's not even funny.
Wouldn't it be cool to see it live?

As impressed as I was with the sound of Stevie's voice in Dallas this year, I don't think she could do justice to the vocal of the Mirage track. IMO it's far better even than the "Designs of Love" demo that so many Ledgies adore.

I hope "Straight Back" survives this round. It might be a Top 10 Stevie song for me.

I voted to boot WISYA & NQA this time. I don't dislike either of them. Even so, choosing from the "Part Two" list for this competition is nowhere nearly as hard as "Part One" was. Those votes hurt.

I agree with you from a vocal standpoint but from a fun, upbeat, flashback standpoint I think it would be an entertaining experience. Of course she'd have to bring it down an entire octave. The harmonies with Christine would also be greatly missed.

I also enjoy the album version much better than the Designs of Love demo. I mean seriously Jake, I'm obsessed with That's Alight. This might be to the point of unhealthy especially considering I dislike country music so. It just has such a signature sound, impecable harmonies, and it's a feel good song with a heavy message. Quite a dichotomy. I could listen to it over and over and feel really good about it you know?

Who else is obsessed with That's Alright? Come on guys, show some love! Don't make me start a "That's Alright" appreciation thread. :D

I never liked No Questions Asked until someone started a thread about it a few months back raving how great it was so I gave it another listen and started to see the beauty in it. Not a favorite but any means but a prime example of the true and distinct Fleetwood Mac sound. Also, I would have preferred something better for an addition to a greatest hits album considering what they had to chose from from Stevie. Its just not that strong of a song by any means.

Fiver 09-27-2011 05:35 PM

That's Alright is one of my fave Stevie songs. I definitely prefer the Mirage version, as well.

I voted for Fireflies and No Questions Asked.

Someone already voted for Gypsy! unbelievable.

MacFan92 09-27-2011 07:54 PM

That fact that No Questions Asked is still on here is a small miracle.

That's why we can't see who's voting in this poll.

I like these songs more than the ones in part one. I'll have to think for a minute about these.

That would be me.:) I've always loved this gem. I wish Stevie/FM would've given it more attention. It's a brilliant song & beautiful composition through and through And Stevie sings it to full tilt:nod:. Of her Mirage contributions I prefer this over Straight Back any day. Straight Back's hypnotic delicate groove & fantastic vocal are the only things that save the song, otherwise it's basically Dreams, Sisters Of The Moon & Outside The Rains generic cheaper substitute.

Voted for WISYA & NQA - I agree with whoever said this song is not strong enough for inclusion on FM's 1st GH. NQA along with WTTRS was the beginning of Stevie's barely there melody songs that continued through the TimeSpace era.
