Seeds We Sow - best Buckingham album since Out of The Cradle

A few days in and I'm ready to say that Seeds We Sow is his best album since Out of The Cradle.

I loved Under The Skin, and up until the other day it was my favorite recent collection of Buckingham songs. But there's something about this new one that is often magical.

Stars Are Crazy and When She Comes Down are easily among his best work.

There's an energy and immediacy to this album that sometimes reminds me of Go Insane too.
And that album was never a favorite.

When a musician puts out one of his strongest albums 38 years after his first record, there's no doubt he's a true artist.

Thoughts?

My only thoughts are that I agree completely with your assessment of SWS. We all have our favorites, but even when listening objectively I have to marvel at how well-made this album is. It has a little of everything, and his songwriting is at a peak. His guitar playing is so clear and vibrant, and the whole thing just shimmers throughout. Listening to this album, I was taken back to the many years ago when I became a Lindsey fan for life while listening to the incredible Out Of The Cradle. Both these albums have this common theme of love and loss and there isn't a moment where I start to wander from the music on either. I play both all the way through and at the end I just marvel at how amazing he is.

For me Lindsey really hit the jackpot with this album. It's such a beautiful piece of work and I'm so proud of him and proud to be a fan of his.

Hahaha! I always enjoy a Lebowski reference...

I'm not keen on Stars Are Crazy. I think it's possibly the weakest track on what is an incredibly consistent record - it's not a bad song at all but just not my favourite.

Yup, that one and "One Take" to me don't fit with the album.

i agree with not liking Stars, although i think it fits perfectly on the CD. One Take i think it does sound very different when it comes on after Stars, WSCD, and Rock Away Blind, but i love that - it changes the direction from these 3 songs at exactly the right time!

another thing: i play the CD in my car when driving kids places, and they usually complain that they had enough of LB. but they don't recogneize the new songs as him (hey, there is such a diversity, plus CD versions do sound much better then rip-offs from bootleg Saban recordings :p), so they just go by whether or not they like them. when RAB came after WSCD my 14yo said "this guy sucks" so i forwarded to the next one and he was - "right that's just gonna be more of the same" - but next one is "One Take" and he just stopped complaining and started really listening - i love that!:]
