Bret Michaels wants Stevie on his next album
http://www.billboard.com/news/bret-m...05331812.story
If Poison frontman Bret Michaels has his way, his next solo album, "Get Your Rock On," will be a guest-studded affair that will feature Def Leppard's Joe Elliott and Phil Collen, Stevie Nicks, possibly members of Lynyrd Skynyrd and younger groups such as Pop Evil and My Darkest Days. "I'm in the process of doing it as we speak," Michaels tells Billboard.com. "When you're having other artists perform with you, it's about working with their time schedule and a lot of taking care of some of the business before you can enjoy the pleasure of just jamming together. I try to keep it pretty organic. We have to make sure everyone's good with the timing and can get into the studio to sing. But I think we're going to have a blast making this record." Michaels already has Elliott and Collen targeted for "Get Your Rock On's" title track, while other collaborations will be determined in the near future. He says the album may also include a live version of "Margaritaville" he performed with Jimmy Buffett and his Coral Reefer Band during 2010 at the DTE Energy Music Theatre in suburban Detroit. Mostly, however, Michaels plans "to draw on original stuff -- not that there's anything wrong with covering things. But I'd rather write some original stuff and have a really great song and then have someone else perform it with me. So that's what we're shooting for." As for a timetable, Michaels is hoping to have a first single -- likely the title track -- out by the end of the year, digitally if not on CD. But Michaels, characteristically, has a number of other projects he's juggling in addition to "Get Your Rock On." The singer, who starred in VH1's "Rock of Love" and won NBC's "Celebrity Apprentice 3" in 2010, is working on a pair of new reality TV shows. "Something to Believe In" is a network-targeted, philanthropic feel-good program that involves Donald Trump and will feature Michaels helping out families and businesses in need. "A Star is Reborn," meanwhile, is a competition show for cable that will involve "people who were big stars, who are creative and want to make a big comeback," with the winner getting another label deal. Michaels hopes to put both shows on the air in 2012. Meanwhile, Poison, which celebrated its 25th anniversary on the road this summer with Motley Crue and the New York Dolls, plans to tour again in the summer of 2012, and Michaels is hoping it will be with Def Leppard, who his band toured with in 2009. And he promises that 2012 will finally bring the publication of his long-promised autobiography "Roses and Thorns: The Rock 'n' Roll Fantasy to My Reality," which has says has been retooled to meet his latest deadline. "It's going to be about the roses and thorns of situations in my life -- what was happening, the good, the bad, the ugly and the solution," Michaels explains. "It won't be one of those books that, 'I was born here, I moved here, this happened here, me and CeCe (DeVille) got in a fight...' I wanted to give the book more of an identity. And it's been tough, because every time I think I'm finished, something new happens. But now it's closer to how I always wanted it to be, so it's going to get out there, in the summer." |
Not even Stevie could get me to listen to whatever pile of horse crap he comes up with.
|
I remember when he recorded that duet with Miley Cyrus, he talked about how they tried to do the harmony/singing on her part in the style of Stevie or something.
|
Let's hope Stevie doesn't end up on "A Star is Reborn."
|
of course he does:)

He has always loved Stevie.

Clearly, none of them are aware that Stevie and Bret have already collaborated...
http://gothamist.com/2011/08/30/goth...ould_bre.phpAn Office Debate: Should Bret Michaels And Stevie Nicks Collaborate? According to Billboard, Poison frontman Bret Michaels would like to have Stevie Nicks join him on his upcoming solo album, Get Your Rock On. Gothamist staffers are torn, a debate follows: Jamie: So here's the thing: we're talking about one song that he wants her to guest on Jen: That's one song too many. Jamie: So before you get your knickers all tangled, just remember that we're not talking about them getting married (even though if they did they could share hair products and gypsy scarves!) Jen: His hair isn't real anymore. But anyway, Stevie Nicks should never be a part of an album that includes a cover of "Margaritaville" (as this one might!). Jamie: But, hibrow-lowbrow... what's wrong with a little "Margaritaville"? Jen: Bret Michaels doing "Margaritaville" is totally acceptable, but let's not drag Stevie into the frat boy, umbrella-drink nostalgia pop. Jamie: She could give Bret some mystical advice on how to sell more records Jen: Stevie's not a mystic, she just dresses like one. Though I agree she can help with his record sales. Jamie: I think Bret and Stevie are more similar than you'd like to admit. They're both warriors. Jen: Disagree. Jamie: Bret Michaels has done a very savvy job of keeping himself in the public eye. Reality TV, Tonys, etc. Jen: He has more in common with Snooki. Jamie: What has Stevie done lately? Those chiffon skirts don't pay for themselves. Jen: She is playing at Jones Beach THIS WEEKEND. Jamie: Maybe Stevie could use a lesson in staying relevant, connecting with a younger audience. When was her last album? Jen: When you are Stevie Nicks you are always relevant. And Glee just covered Rumours! Her last album was last year and got great reviews. Jamie: I'm just saying, I don't see why it's such a bad thing for her to hook up with another pop culture icon... she's already started down that road with the whole Glee thing. I think she wants it! Jen: But she could do better! Jamie: Come on! This is the stuff karaoke dreams are made of! Jen: Nightmares. Jamie: You're living in the past Jen: I'm okay with that. Gothamist editor Christopher Robbins is also for the collaboration. He took the Oreos out of his mouth for long enough to chime in, saying, "They'll both need a boost sooner or later. Plus, they both have cocaine-worn septums. That counts for something in this crazy, mixed up world, dammit." But does Bret Michaels really belong anywhere near this woman?: There's a link to the Wild Heart/make-up session video on youtube. |
Just what I need, Love's a Hard Game to Play pt. 2 !!
|
I want to post a snarky comment on that site, but don't want to bother creating an account to do it.
|
20 yrs ago Stevie needed him (or at least her management & label thought so:rolleyes:) AND now it appears like Bret needs Stevie. Funny how the tables have turned.
|
Gross.
I'd like to think she's in a place now where she doesn't need to say yes to something like this. |

TBH, I don't even have a big problem with her singing a song like "Love's a Hard Game to Play" - I just strongly object that space on a "Best Of" compilation went to that kind of song, which she did not even write. - Jake |

Since he had a health scare, she might be feeling kind of sentimental. Michele |
