Talk To Me (Rare HQ Promo 2)

tell me what you all think about it, a different mix

SuperFleetwood 08-12-2011 03:12 PM

I like this better then the original video!

mikephxaz 08-12-2011 03:19 PM

love this....definitely better video

jcfree 08-12-2011 03:34 PM

Totally agree-this is a much better video than the official one released!

mylittledemon 08-12-2011 03:44 PM

Sounds like the "Time Life" version of Talk to me..?

Travis 08-12-2011 05:43 PM

Much better? Really? I think that is only because anytime we get an alternate take on a song or video that we've seen a thousand times before, it seems more exciting. In my opinion, the one they officially released is better. This one seems a bit more sporadic while the editing on the released one is tighter.

loooove the opening of this much more than the commercially released 1

This was the original 1st edit of "Talk To Me" video released to MTV which world premiere in Dec. 1985, while the song was already a top 10 hit. I remember it well, cause as soon as it was re-edited a few weeks later to the version we all know, I was like WTF, why did they cut all the cool background images that sorta came to life in Stevie's little gallery, plus the opening camera panning similar to the "Gypsy" video. I much preferred this version, and would be very interested to know why someone in Stevie's camp felt the need to re-edit it immediately after release. This version has more going on. The one we ended up with is too stark and visually less interesting imo.

The audio "mix" isn't different. But editing of the video is different. I remember seeing this version when it first aired. I always thought it was better than the one that became the standard version. What was the reasoning behind the change? I blame the coke!:D

Thanks so much for posting that. I remember seeing the world premiere and then later on seeing a video which seemed different. I love this premiere.

I always wished there were photos from the making of this video. That would be amazing.

I wish I were a better expert when it comes to Stevie/FM's videos. I wasn't into her in the video heydays and as a fan later in life I haven't been too good about familiarizing myself with them. I should work on this. Note to self. I have a collection of all of them and there is something called YouTube. This shouldn't be too hard.

Yep this is the original edit which I have had posted on my youtube account for a while. There are 2 edits of Seven Wonders too which most people aren't aware of.

This video will always be a WTF Moment in Stevie's career, in any edit. I do love the video, but it makes absolutely no sense. I know she is in a sorta art gallery and the art comes to life, but it has no relation to what the song is about. I'd rather would have had her dance around with a telephone.
