Sorcerer - "Street of Fire" (Marilyn Martin version)

I think most of you have heard this very different version of "Sorcerer" released in 84' (on the Streets Of Fire soundtrack out of print) and recorded with Stevie's session players (including Waddy, Bobbye Hall & Roy Bittan) as well as backing vocals by Stevie and the girls, and produced by Jimmy Iovine. I've imagined this is what "Sorcerer" would have sounded like if it were recorded & released by Stevie in the early 80's for inclusion on "Wild Heart" or RAL. This has always been my favorite version, the arrangement rich with mystery and intensity that draw out the lyrical mood much better than the TISL (Sheryl Crow) version IMHO.

Anyway this is for you...Dani. As well as Ed & Grace and anyone else who has not had the pleasure.:)

I heard this long before I ever heard Stevie's 1974-ish demo. Love it!

I've always loved the growl in Stevie's voice when she sings "lady from the mounnnnn-tainnnnn" in the middle.

Does anyone have the Laurie Sargent version as heard in the actual movie?

Actually, I was just thinking I'd have to ask for this. Thanks, Christopher!

I feel the same way about the Louise Goffin version of "If You Ever Did Believe." It was recorded in 81 or 82 I think, with Stevie's sessions players and Jimmy produced it. This version screams Stevie from that era. It is sooo much better than the version that ended up on the Practical Magic soundtrack, yet, not many agree with me. As I've said many times, I think what people can't get past are Louise's thin vocals, but music wise, it's better.

I love this version. It's much better than the version of "Sorcerer" that ended up on Trouble In Shangri-La.
