Are these Stevie's shoes?

I posted about this in 2008 (yes, I went back and looked up my original post) and was going to follow up but forgot all about it. So...

Back in 2008 a friend of a friend of a friend of mine said he owned a pair of boots that had been given to her by a friend that swore they once belonged to Stevie. A short time later she gave me this pair of shoes saying that these were them.

Now, I do sort of like that I can show them to people and say "these may or may not have once belonged to Stevie Nicks. Just because if there's one thing I like better than a souvenir, it's a souvenir with a story behind it.

But since I did not get to meet Stevie this week (and yes, I did consider taking these with me and asking her assistant if she could identify them) I am posting a photo for you guys to see if anyone can take an educated guess. I can't find a size anywhere on them and I'm a terrible judge of sizing things by looking at them. Inside it says "MIA... Made In Brazil". And here's a pic...

ETA: Nevermind, I can see it now!

They don't look familiar off the top of my head.

P.S. Your username in combination with the threat title made me laugh.

Yeah, I was having some problems posting the photo. You must have been looking at the post as I was working on it.

And the "laces" comment gave me the first really good laugh of the day. I hadn't even thought of that. LOL!!!!

I would guess if they really were her shoes they were not performance shoes. I wish I could remember the story. Something about a drag queen who knew someone that was friends with Stevie, and she had left the shoes behind in a dressing room or something. I have no idea. I kind of have the feeling that the shoes belonged to a drag queen who did a Stevie Nicks number and as the story (and shoes) got passed on it went from the drag queen who did Stevie to them being Stevie's actual shoes. But who knows.

I do have to admit that in my mind I somehow had the image of a Bloom County comic strip with Opus and Bill the Cat being in line to meet Stevie, and is Opus talking about how she is his idol and he's always wanted to meet her and in the last panel he walks up to the table, thrusts the shoes in her face and goes "ARE THESE YOUR SHOES?????".

Maybe they came from her mother's store? But that doesn't mean she has ever worn them.

But a drag queen would be more likely to have bigger feet, I would think (although I realize I am generalizing). Even if the feet were small, due to extra width needed in the upper foot they would probably have to wear a bigger size than those shoes look to be, especially the way they taper at the end.

Hmmm, good point. The plot thickens.

I wonder if Karen will remember a pair of shoes out of the thousands she's probably owned? You're probably (just saying probably) not gonna have much luck there. But hey, bring em anyway and feel free to drop that story on 'em. Six degrees of Stevie Nicks. ;)

The Frankenboks aside occasionally, these are some of the ugliest shoes I've ever seen. They look like elf shoes or something and I don't see Stevie wearing these :sorry:

THINKABOUTIT 08-09-2011 11:26 AM

lest we forget, Stevie did have some crazy/ugly fashion through the later 80s & early 90s LOL

Honestly, I can't really fathom that they would be, nor that anyone involved would remember them, Stevie herself included, but you know, why the hell not?

There was a skit on SNL ages ago that was making fun of Beetlemania where they took Elvis Presley's jacket on tour. And they had it on a stage with all the lights and music playing and people screaming and it was just a jacket on a little stand. It was really goofy and funny. And that's what these shoes make me think of. Come one, come all, see Stevie Nicks' SHOES!!!

I swear, I need to write a song called Stevie's Shoes. And yes, I will add the line "undoing the laces" even though... as you all can see... these darling little black pumps are slip ons. :p
