cleveland to pittsburgh

is anyone making this trip that I could join them?
I heard the bus station in pitts is in a really dodgy area!

I want to check out cleveland the day between chicago gig and pitts so are there any cleveland locals too who could offer some advice on what to do besides the rock n roll hall of fame

I'm having second thoughts about going to the show  People keep bailing on me! And I don't want to have to wait the night before to have solid plans. I want to be able to sell my tickets if I'm not gonna be there. I've never traveled for a concert before, or anything really. Especially not alone or with flaky people. I don't want to have to be the responsible one!

You couldn't have come to Cleveland? Really, Lindsey? That would make my life so much easier!

Okay, I'm done crying...but I gotta figure out what I am doing soon.

Hello, I have been in the Cleveland Bus Station and it is not too bad. I have taken the Mega Bus from Chicago to Cleveland and back. There is a really fun Irish bar in Downtown Cleveland I have been in it twice. I have had fun both times I have been in it. I like to watch skating and I have seen Stars On Ice twice in Cleveland. Check the fares early both companies have cheap fares if you plan in advance. Also check Greyhound Express they have real cheap fares now. I recently found this out Mega Bus is putting pressure on them. I am in Chicago this is where I live.

I'm going from Cleveland(ish) to Pitt and driving solo. Wouldn't miss it! I'm bummed there's no Cleveland show but would much rather drive to Pitt than Cincy! If anyone wants/needs to car pool, you can PM me. I know I'm new around here, but I have met up w/people on the boards before (like back in 2003, maybe?). I work in Akron and will be leaving from there around 2-3.

I was planning on making a side trip to Ikea though I can skip it. And you'll have to excuse the car seat and cheerios on the floor. ;)

Hey, I'm from Cleveland. If you're staying Downtown, check out the following:

1. East 4th Street, between Euclid and Prospect Avenues - a bowling alley, restaurants/bars, a great new mini-department store called Dredgers Union

2. The Old Arcade, 401 Euclid Avenue - beautiful enclosed atrium built in 1890 - a few shops and restaurants

3. Great Lakes Science Center - across from the Rock Hall - also has IMAX theater

4. Cleveland Public Library - 325 Superior Avenue - one of the largest and oldest in the country. There are two buildings - one new and one old. Don't miss the older one.

5. Money Museum inside the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland (but it's open weird hours; see http://www.clevelandfed.org/learning_center/index.cfm)

6. Terminal Tower - a 1930 train station that's now a mall, with a cinema. The mall's not what it used to be, but there are still some stores.

7. Warehouse District - area between W. 6th and W. 9th, Superior and Lakeside avenues - residential, shops, bars, coffeehouses

Some of Cleveland's best attractions are in its neighborhoods, though. From Terminal Tower/Tower City, you can hop on the Red Line train one stop West to W. 25th Street. You'll be at the West Side Market, one of the oldest and largest public markets in the U.S. It's open Monday/Wednesday/Friday/Saturday. Also the surrounding neighborhood (Ohio City) is great.

Or check out University Circle, about 4 miles east of downtown, which has the stunning Cleveland Museum of Art, Cleveland Botanical Gardens, Cleveland Museum of Natural History and others. Take either the Health Line to East Boulevard or the Red Line to Euclid/E. 120th St. (I'm assuming you'll be without a car.) For transit information see http://www.riderta.com/

Hope that helps!

Pittsburgh's bus station is in the downtown area and is fine. You will need a car to get to the show - the concert hall is not in the best area and I wouldn't recommend using public transportation that late at night when you don't know exactly when you will be leaving and most bus routes finish by 11pm which is when the show would likely be over. The closest nice area is called the Waterfront in Homestead, PA. It's shops, restaurants and a few bars. There is also a hotel for those who need somewhere to stay.

I second these recommendations if you're planning on hanging around Cleveland. West Side Market is great and across the street (sort of) is Great Lakes Brewing Co.! Ohio City is a great place with lots of good little places to check out.

I love downtown E 4th st. It's such a cute little area with nice restaurants and bars.

University Circle/Coventry area is a great neighborhood as well, close to Lake View Cemetery too, which is a wonderful place to visit. Also close to Cleveland's Little Italy.

I went to the R&R HOF recently since I hadn't been there in over a decade and wanted to see what they had in rotation. They had a nice display of Stevie/Rumours-related stuff on the lower level. They have a Women in Rock exhibit right now and on the top level of that there is a Stevie display which includes a dress and hand written draft lyrics for "Stand Back" which was the most interesting thing to me. When I was there before I think they had one of Lindsey's guitars but I didn't see it this time around. Lady Gaga's meat dress is there right now too.
