I have heard that Lindsay was backstage and we all know how tough the early to mid nineties were for mama. The first time I saw this, I was so moved.
Also, the subject of the song (Joe Walsh's late toddler daughter) is always a moving topic to sing about.

This was Woodstock, 1998. I remember watching this online as it was happening.

I think she was just overwhelmed by the crowd and the whole idea of the fact that she was playing Woodstock. She talked a little about seeing the Woodstock movie in the late '60s and making a mental note that she would play Woodstock one day. One of her dreams came true that night.

She is so beautiful, that was a really moving performance and you could see it in the audience.

stevie has often said that when she sings a song she "goes back" to when it was written. She might be feeling the same sadness as when Joe Walsh told her about EmmaChrista.

she use to cry all the time ... good mix of drugs and depression i guess

Wasn't that also the last date of her solo tour back then?

To me, I think that she was probably thinking about how far she has come since all of the Klonopin stuff happened. She probably dreamed that she wouldn't be back up at stage again.

And she was, and it was Woodstock

And then yes there was the Joe Walsh story...

I think it was a number of things that were getting to her.

...That and she usually cries at the end of every tour.

This was an amazing show. It was pouring rain but no one cared:) I think the emotion was a combination of what everyone already mentioned:)

you want to know my real honest opinion??? i think she was a little tipsy at this show. she's just got this US Festival grin on throughout the whole show. She was also like this at Radio City a little bit. Call me crazy but I really get that feeling. Not saying she was bombed or anything like that but it wouldn't put it past me. She was riding on the success of the Dance and back on top and was probably letting loose a bit. It's not a bad thing. I wish she would do it a little more lately as it loosens her up and she actually looks like she's not so uptight onstage.

That's my theory and I'm sticking to it!

I think '98 was the year Stevie finally got off the klonopin. She was feeling her feelings again. Also, she'd vowed never to get on stage again when she was at her heaviest. Yet there she was on stage and having a beautiful moment with her audience. I'm sure some nostalgia regarding the subject matter of the song was mixed in. Thank you for sharing this. I remember seeing her at Mixfest that year and being blown away thinking, "She's back!"

Stevie went to rehab for Klonopin in 1994.

Yup it was - I was there - she told us that when the original Woodstock happened she was in California and was blown away by the idea and she knew that not only would she play Woodstock someday but she would be flown in (which she was). This was the most memorable Stevie show I ever saw.
