I always thought Royal Tennenbaum did a pretty solid job writing his own:

Best. Movie. Ever.

Okay, this is a little different, but I couldn't not mention it while we're on the subject of epitaphs. Dani and I were just planning my epitaph in LA! (You'd be amazed what topics you hit as you wait in line for 17 hours.) And I'm feeling pretty confident in the decision: lyrics to "Jane." Yeah, it's a winner;)

She'd kept pointing at me and singing, "There are angels here on Earth!" Somehow, we decided that was epitaph-worthy. And really, if you're going to quote Jane, you need to get the chimpanzee in there, right? So here we are:

Grace Gardner J------
1989-
"Children of the world
The forgotten chimpanzee
In the eyes of the world
You have done so much for me

There are angels here on earth."

Poetic. Humble. Logical. What more would I want?

I'm really proud of that invention on our parts, Grace. Pure genius.

I do occasionally like to plan things pertaining to my funeral. For example, I know exactly what songs I want to be played. Shiny Happy People by R.E.M. (A sing along version like on Man On The Moon, with me on the video leading it all. EPIC!), Don't Stop by Fleetwood Mac (Oh the irony! :p) and Joy To The World by Three Dog Night. I also toyed with the idea of DW. Suite by Lindsey Buckingham.

As for epitaphs, I had a few rather lame ideas :-
  • GAME OVER
  • Onto Level Two
  • What Does This Button Do?
  • Look Behind You!
  • Go Into The Light? I'm Still Looking For The Tunnel

I'm also contemplating having a dance mat installed ontop of the grave too.
