In the high-profile spread, Swift wears a ’70s-style sunflower-speckled dress over a pair of jeans, a floppy beige hat and flowing accessories, with a style awfully similar to Nicks’s chic. Nicks and Swift, of course, performed together at the Grammy Awards in 2010. Speaking with Time magazine, Nicks admitted she had a few hesitations about performing with the young starlet. “When I first got the call from Taylor Swift about performing with her at this year's Grammy Awards, I really didn’t want to do it,” she told the magazine in 2010. “She's 20 years old, 5 ft. 11 in. and slender; I’m 40 years older and, to be frank, neither of the other two things! I was not about to stand next to this girl on national television. But her little face just lights up like a star, and I couldn’t say no.” Nicks went on to say that she sees some of herself in Swift. “Taylor reminds me of myself in her determination and her childlike nature,” she said. “It’s an innocence that's so special and so rare. “This girl writes the songs that make the whole world sing, like Neil Diamond or Elton John. She sings, she writes, she performs, she plays great guitar. Taylor can do ballads that could be considered pop or rock and then switch back into country. When I turned 20 years old, I had just made the serious decision to never be a dental assistant. Taylor just turned 20, and she’s won four Grammys.” |

Well, I think they thought the floppy hat was Stevieish. Michele |
this is more Carly Simon from the early 70s
|
I don't think she looks Stevie-ish at all..

And...this is the first time I've heard Stevie saying she had intentions to be a dental assistant! Her usual on-going script is that she was going to be a teacher. |

Worst Grammy Moments, San Francisco Weekly, By Rae Alexandra Fri., Feb. 10 2012
http://blogs.sfweekly.com/shookdown/...omfortable.php #3 Taylor Swift and Stevie Nicks duet, 2010 Taylor Swift is usually pitch-perfect live, but for some ridiculous reason, she was hitting bum notes from the get-go at the 2010 Grammys. The true horror commenced, though, when Stevie "forced smile" Nicks was brought out. Taylor hung onto her hand like a little girl terrified of losing her mom at the supermarket, before wailing over the top of an increasingly embarrassed-looking Nicks during "Rhiannon." The final indignity came when (then-61-year-old) Nicks sang back-up to Swift's "You Belong With Me" -- including the line "She wears short skirts, I wear sneakers, she's cheer captain and I'm on the bleachers," weakly pointing at the air for that last part, clearly trying to take the edge off a humiliating situation. Nicks looked like she wanted the ground to swallow her whole by the end the song. We kind of wanted it to, too. Whoever thought this one up should've been fired. |
