Now, what in the name of heck is this?? Anybody heard of it before? |
Looks like a band called The Resistance did a song called "Stevie Nicks"
|
You can hear it here:
http://www.myspace.com/thepsychedelicresistance The Resistance is just one of many bands to name a song after Stevie. The E.L.F - "Stevie Nicks Hearts" Calexico - "Not Even Stevie Nicks" Dave Stewart - "Stevie Baby" The Rotters - "Sit On My Face, Stevie Nicks" This one I discovered about a month ago: Beck - "Stevie Nicks Licked Me" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=56dLJF6Owqs Beck wrote this in 1992, same time period he wrote his hit "Loser." The song was untitled, but fans called it "Nightbirds" because of the lyrics. Steve Hanft, who directed most of Beck's music videos, said this in an interview: "Stevie Nicks has a song with that title, he wants to refer to this as "Stevie Nicks Licked Me." This song is so horrible, that I was compelled to leave an observation on Becksongs youtube channel. I figured that since Beck is so edgy and clever (i.e. obscure narcissist) he'd appreciate the reciprocation. My comment - which is still there - was responded to: "Stevie Nicks fans mean business" |

It's garbarge for sure, but it's really Beck's brand of snark I can't stand. He's a music snob that mocked Fleetwood Mac during one MTV interview I saw years ago. At least The Rotters are sincere.
The E.L.F's "Stevie Nicks Hearts" is actually very sweet in its inspiration. Darren Cross, who is the The ElF, said that during his highschool/college days that every girl fell for was also a Stevie Nicks fan. I'm going to look up the other songs I haven't heard. |
