Kate Bush - Deeper Understanding Preview

I'm totally ecstatic that both Stevie AND Kate Bush are having new releases this May, so I thought I'd share it with everyone!

Yesterday, a clip surfaced on Amazon.co.uk of the new version of "Deeper Understanding" (reworked from 1989's "The Sensual World" and to be released as the first single on April 5th).

At first I absolutely hated it, especially compared to the (beloved) original. The voice of the computer is a radical shift, but now I'm really starting to like it. It's like the computer is coming to life, in a transition state between computer and friend. I can't wait to hear the whole thing in only 8 short days! :blob2:

Here's the preview:

And here's the original, if you want to hear what the song's about:

Hmm, it's interesting to say the least. I'll decide if I like it or not when I hear the full song.

I'll decide then, too

The original is love.

It seems alright, at the moment.
her voice sounds good - but like the others, I will have to decide on April 5.

It's interesting because it's so much longer than the original (4:46 v. 6:32) so that makes me think there are some extra verses.

This is just all so exciting. Such a whirlwind on the Kate front so unexpectedly.

May can't come soon enough!!!

And so she joins the league of the never-ageing, never-faltering women.

Oh wait, we already knew that

But unlike some other elderly rock legends, she's actually allowing the slightest hint of character lines to appear in her pictures.

Kate's holding up! I'm hoping this means she's up for doing videos too.

The amazing thing is, that Kate is only 52. Some Artists only peak at their artistic maturity at this age, and some are still being signed to contracts.

Even so, at least quite a lot of them have gotten surgery that isn't overdone and they still look amazing (and themselves).

I sure as hell don't plan to age gracefully. If it makes someone feel better and they get good surgery that doesn't transform them into a swollen, plastic reproduction of their former self I see no problem with it

I LOVE this picture. People have been comparing it to this picture of Sergei Eisenstein: http://img.listal.com/image/381221/6...eisenstein.jpg

Kate always surprises with her influences.

You can also see *gasp* a touch of gray in her hair. She looks amazing!

Just posted today on youtube from her official page:

The snare drum addition is surprising and it definitely sounds like a new vocal.

There are some "doo doo doo's" too in the background that could be interesting.

This sounds like the fadeout of the song, right before where the Trio Bulgarka (normally) come in.

It's different from the clip that was on Amazon the other day too, which is an interesting choice. I'm still withholding judgement, but as someone commented on the video, "kate could sing the chinese telephone directory and it wouldnt be boring"

Thanks Kate! :xoxo:

Just got the full track, 320kbps file/ 15 mb.

I can't believe how terrible it is. I'm hoping it's part of some art experiment that she'll explain at a later date.

Didn't even know a new album was on the horizon till i saw this post on the ledge. Thanx

Weird thing is that when i started my new job yesterday at the local library i pointed out to a coworker that that was my favourite album while pointing at a copy of hounds of love (fleetwood mac is my favorite band though but nothing tops this album as a whole for me) i came home and took out my vinylcopy of Hounds of love and displayed it on the windowsill where it still is.

anyway lsitened to the old version of deeper understanding to refresh my memory and then the new track on you tube. Have to get used to the computervocal but it is fitting to the song and can't wait to hear what she did to the other tracks.
New Stevie & Kate in May
wow
