So, what is your favorite song from the Sizzle Reel?
Mine is Moonlight, so far.

Well I actually like everything, however, I'm really intrigued by the Wide Sargasso Sea. I think it's because of the song structure. I love the way she reads poetry and then just starts wailing away. It seems like a very unique way to get a story/song out. It also sounds modern and real rock. I mean she'll be 63, that's rockier than anything on TISL. She just goes for it.

However, I can tell the other songs are really good and that Italian Summer sounds like a great ballad.

I love her voice the most in Moonlight, cause it just sounds so... restrained and vocally brilliant; hardly nasally at all.

But, I love the passion and anger in Wide Sargasso sea. Annabell Lee is nice, but nasally. While Italian Summer sounds beautiful, and wow at that loooong note, but, I refuse to judge a song based on a line and a half. So the jury is out on that one.

However. Based on what we heard so far... Wide Sargasso Sea wins for me, especially if that "they drew a line in the sand, just because" line is part of the song. It's the one song that, based on the snippet, makes me yearn for more the most.

I agree that Annabelle Lee is too nasally. However, because of his production I don't mind quite as much.

Wide Sargasso Sea is the song that calls out to me the most of the 4 tracks. I actually love them all, though WSS is the standout for me.

Artemis, I love your new sig pic.

Moonlight. I just really like the aura, the fact it's upbeat, kinda rocking. From what I can hear, it sounds like this actually should have been the single :).

Wide Sargasso Sea is second... it seems like that'll be a real rocker.

I am not amused by Italian Summer. It's sappy and middle of the road sounding.

I actually like what I hear of Annabel Lee... which really surprises me! I even like the highly nasal quality of her voice.

Yes, Artemis I do too. I'm a big fan of Bjork, especially of Post and Pagan Poetry.

I really do love everything, but the second that third song started, and Stevie says "and even though they were so in love, they drew a line in the sand just because", I KNEW that was my song!!!

Wide Sargasso Sea

but who knew Stevie would write a tribute to Left-Eye Lopez!!?? " she burned his house down!!!" gotta love it! after all, she did work with Dallas Austin, TLC's producer. in the whacky world of Stevie, it just might be a Left-Eye reference!

I'm torn between Moonlight and Wide Sargossa Sea, as well as a little of Italian Summer... I like Annabel Lee but it's not my favorite.

If I HAD to pick, oh gosh, I guess I'd say Wide Sargossa Sea.

StevieNicksfann 03-27-2011 12:21 AM

I love all 4 of those snippets. But I do know that Wide Sargasso Sea is probably one of those rockers that I'll love but so intense that I'll feel drained and thus I won't be able to listen to repeatedly. Same thing with in terms of intensity with Italian Summer - I will adore that song but I feel electric and start to cry by the end of that and thus I'll be drained and won't be able to put myself through that all the time without some good meds lol. I love Annabel Lee - love it. And someone suggested perhaps the 2 girls in the video are representative of Stevie and Robin which, if true, would make it so bittersweet to me. So I think the one I can totally enjoy without torturing my soul lmao is Moonlight. So I picked that but honestly, I think all 4 snippets are so majestic.

I voted for Moonlight, but really, truly loved Italian Summer and Wide Sargasso Sea as well. I chose it mainly because I felt like I got the best sense of Moonlight--the WSS snippet was electric, but so brief that I can't be sure what it will really sound like.
I'm now desperate to hear the full versions of all of these--I was blown away.

BombaySapphire3 03-27-2011 12:48 AM

Wide Sargasso Sea is the one that hooked me on first listen.Like another poster mentioned who could believe that a 63 year old lady could still rock like Stevie does in this song..Funny how the 2 most popular snippets with the fans are not songs mentioned as favs by those who have heard the album..although Stevie herself has cited "Moonlight" as her favorite.

DoubtfulMiracle 03-27-2011 01:02 AM

Moonlight!

I was nervous when I heard the song inspired by Twilight was written in Brisbane - like my home town was somehow responsible for Stevie's penchant for crappy teen movies. But that snippet is brilliant! Her voice sounds wonderful, and just those few lines have been stuck in my head. Can't wait to hear the whole thing :blob1:
