Street Angel - the old b&w movie

If anyone is interested, the old b&w movie, Street Angel, will be on Turner Classic Movies Thursday 2/17 at 2:00 p.m. EST.

Stevie Inspired by another B&W film...

In Naples, where prostitutes can pay their rent, Angela is sentenced to a year in the workhouse when she tries to steal(while streetwalking) to pay for medicine for her dying mother. She escapes and is hidden by a circus, where she's a natural talent and meets Gino, a painter. When she breaks her ankle in a fall, her career ends. What can she and Gino do? He wants to go to Naples, but the law may still be looking for her, and Gino doesn't know about her past. Starving artist and a beauty with a secret: is there room in this world for them?

Street Angel is so old it's not only black and white it is silent. Also the subject matter would have been totally whitewashed just a few years later when the Hayes code kicked in.

I own Street Angel and have seen it many times, including on the big screen. That ending is just beyond. Borzage for the win!

i've never seen it so figured i'd record it. i'm not much into silent movies though, but i'll give it a try just because it sounds interesting.

I DVRed it and will watch tonight!!!

I missed it was the movie any good?? Just wondering??
