Suicide And Morality

We know each religeon has their own slant on what is deemed "moral" by their definition, and many have choice feelings on suicide. But from a personal position, where do you stand with your opinion on the taboo subject?

I dunno what to say, but really Bee? If this is what I think it is, you really need to seek some help. I don't like seeing my friends like this

I think if a person wants to take their life it is their decision. I don't think other people should have a say.

Suicide is a terrible terrible thing. I Can never consider it. It's heartbreaking that some people feel there's no other option. Even when I was at my lowest I never thought of it.

To me it has nothing to do with morality. It's people who need help. It IS a choice. But a tragic one.

yeah, suicide is a terrible thing, and very sad

I really hope this is a purely intellectual question. I don't want to be presumptuous because I don't know you, but a couple of your posts have been making me nervous. If this is something you're thinking about, I would advise seeking counseling ASAP.

I'm not sure if I really blame people who commit suicide. And since I'm not religious, I don't associate it with damnation, or anything like that. Mainly, I think it's heartbreaking that depression makes people forget that things will get better, that they are loved, and that their death will absolutely destroy the people who love them. Perhaps literally--suicide is often contagious within a community.

so morally it's forgivable?

bluefox4000 02-12-2011 03:05 PM

Ummm......are you ok? Cause seriously...I'm nervous now. If you need to talk you can PM me.

I wouldn't chance it...seriously I wouldn't, 'cause we really don't know.

You can PM me too, if you need to, Bee.

Care & concern from people on a message board may be nice, but it's just a band-aid. I strongly suggest seeking professional help.

Start by calling the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255. They have trained counselors, and they can refer you to a mental health professional in your area.

jannieC 02-12-2011 04:17 PM

Bee, check your PMs, please.

Seriously, seek professional help, find the number of a hotline in the UK, do something!

cristochango 02-12-2011 05:14 PM

Suicide is never the answer.. Your life is worth so much.
I go to a pretty big high school, and there have been a lot of suicides, and all of them have been equally devastating.
Life is so precious. Hang in there and get help if you need it. :)

Here is a service in the UK that may help, Bee:
