Heart & Soul Setlist Predictions
OK don't laugh too hard, but what are everyone's thoughts on this?
To the best of my knowledge, Heart & Soul is being billed as a greatest hits tour. Basically, we should expect zero change with the setlist as is, right? ;) Some questions.. How long will her set be? Will there be any new songs to look forward too? Will 'Love Is' make the cut this year? Will some of the lesser played singles/hits make an appearance? Will she drop some of those unnecessary covers in favor of originals? Will Leather and Lace end up being one of the duets? It's a lazy Sunday ;) |
Well, she already said she was not performing new music before it is officially released so that covers most of the material on the new CD except Secret Love and possibly the next single.

Wow. After all of the generally positive vibes flowing through here about Stevie's new album, you want to go and dredge up the nastiness of the Summer of 2010 and start a new hate thread about Stevie's set list. >sigh<
Here's one thread to definitely avoid in order to keep in a positive mood! :) ^^^Please disregard this stupid post of mine! I misread the original post and I'm sorry. |
I'm expecting the same old songs. With the covers being dropped for time, and her adding in Leather and Lace to sing with Rod Stewart.
It'll be her own solo tour that'll be interesting. Since it's her first proper "tour" since she gave that interview where she said she wants to sing Sable on Blonde... really, that's the only song I'm desperate for her to do live  |
Mikebise, that was not my intention at all! I just meant to start a conversation. I'm excited for the show regardless of the set.

I'm sorry. I misread your post to begin with anyway, so any negativeness came from me, for which I apologize. Very sincerely, I'm sorry.
I still keep hoping there's a H&S date announced for Dallas! |
No worries! Hopefully the show hits Dallas :D

I was just walking my dog Dino and imagining Rod's voice singing along with Stevie on "Leather And Lace"... Ooh, I think that could be epic!
Who knows, I might just buy a ticket and hop on a plane at the last minute! I would hope "Love Is" is still in the setlist. I would love to experience that live. If Stevie keeps a cover or two, I'd prefer "Face The Promise" over that Petty song, just my preference. "Secret Love" should be in the set, I imagine, since Stevie will be teasing her new album and getting concert goers primed to buy it. I'm sure she'll mention In Your Dreams during the H&S tour, hoping to increase awareness and sales. |

Fall From Grace Outside The Rain Dreams Secret Love Sorcerer Rhiannon Leather And Lace (w/ Rod) Gold Dust Woman Stand Back Landslide Edge Of Seventeen Love Is She may or may not add in If Anyone Falls and she may swap out L&L for Stop Draggin My Heart Around, but I think this is pretty much the set we can expect for this tour. |
Honestly...I would LOVE to hear a duet of The Highwayman...Perhaps an arrangement with mandolins........

I would like to think that with all the enthusiasim Stevie has shown over her new record, that she might actually use her solo tour to promote it. However, I have a feeling I would be wrong. I agree with others that I don't wanna bitch and moan already and take away from the excitement of having new material coming out. Still I can't really let myself get too excited, knowing that we are likely in for more of the same. Stevie already mentioned a while back that she may do up to three new songs. Wow! Really? (thats sarcasm). Then she goes on the make the same excuse she always does about people only wanting to hear her classic hits and so she has to play them, blah blah blah. The thing is, thats not really what she has been playing. Fall From Grace, Sorcerer, How Still my Love, Outside the Rain, and all the covers are not the songs most people are going to know her for. Yes, Dreams, 17, Stand Back, GDW, Landslide are all songs that most concert-goers, whether die hard fans or novices would expect or want to hear. But what about Talk To Me, Stop Draggin, I Cant Wait, Rooms on Fire... those were hits, and yet they are never included anymore. If shes gonna use that excuse, I just wish that what she actually played backed it up. I think it's probably actually disinterest on her part that accounts for the song choices. For most artists, touring for a new record means actually playing lots of songs from that record to help introduce people to it and drive album sales. Take Madonna for example, in 2001 on the Drowned World tour, it was her first tour in 8 years. Yet the setlist was all songs from Ray of Light, Music and Bedtime Stories. And on top of that she didnt even sing several of the released singles, instead it was some obscure album tracks. At the end of the show, she tacked on Holiday and La Isla Bonita. In 06 on the confessions tour, she played 10 of the 12 songs from that album. It can be done, and the people will still come and have a good time. Yeah, I know this is a rambling post and all, but if you can't tell, Im a bit passionate about this topic. I love Stevie, I will go see her no matter what, I will buy her record and spread the word. I just really wish she would not phone it in with another setlist that is a retread of the last ten years. Shake things up, really give us something new. If shes excited about her new record, then prove it and load up on some new songs. Anyway, thats what I think....

Many progressive older bands, such as U2, have no problem radically changing their set lists to promote their new music, and at least a half of the album or more is performed. No one wines over "this or that song" not being performed. In fact, a lot of their older songs that gave them their initial success are not performed or rarely performed. Why? Because they have an abundant amount of newer songs in their catalog; they progressed, and their fans accept it as such. There exsists this mentality in some people that if you go to see a show and they don't perform all the songs you know, the big hits, then it's not a satisfying show. That mindset alone is what some bands take to heart, and they let it limit them. And their shows became a stagnent Vegas review...not to unique and challenging, but to pander to masses -- not their true fans. It's a sad fact that the music has become a corporate industry, and for artists to be financially successful, some have to bow the pressure to do what is expected, sacrificing artistic growth. I found it very suprising when Stevie toured behind 'The Other Side of the Mirror." She gave 'Rhiannon" a rest, and performed a decent amount of songs from the new album, unusual by her standards - almost half the album! Rooms on Fire Juliet Two Kinds of Love Whole Lotta Trouble Alice It's too bad she couldn't be nimble enough to swap out some of those songs for other songs on the album during the tour. Why should a set list be so set in stone? All the classic familiar songs were once new songs that people were hearing for the first time. In order to grow and progress you have to perform and sell the new songs, so 30 years down the road, you're not relying on songs you wrote and performed to death 30 years earlier! I hope Stevie has so much confidence in her new material that she will completely revamp her set list and include a large majority of her new album. Give the staple songs a good rest, and include older songs she's never performed live, like "Sable on Blonde. " It may surprise her that her fans will love it, and no one will be missing 'Stand Back." "Rhiannon." or "Dreams." I hope Dave Stewart will influence her in that direction. |

Sorcerer Planets of The Universe Every Day Too Far From Texas Fall From Grace Bombay Sapphires So there's hope in my opinion that if she feels as strongly about the new material as she has been claiming, that she'll do at least 5 new songs from IYD. Certainly she must be tired of doing covers at this point, no? :o |
