"Destiny" Live
Aside from the Westwood One & the Jim Ladd renditions from the House of Blues, are there any decent-sounding live "Destiny" performances in circulation? My favorites -- Holmdel & Las Vegas -- are rotten audio recordings.

Well, David, what about Pittsburgh from the video?
I have in storage a great "Destiny" where Stevie gives a long, hilarious origin for the song (on cassette in a box in another house). |

I'm trying to remember as I type this, hoping to jog my memory (I can see the cassette and Alicia's handwriting from 1994 on it!).
Stevie talks about how she was unsure of her relationship with Lindsey, and left on that trip for a little time to be alone and rethink things. She says she met a beautiful guy on that trip who really made her think twice about returning to Lindsey. This other guy is who she's referring to in the live lyrics when she sings: "He wasn't like anyone ~ it was easy to fall..." Stevie is very funny and sarcastic in this explanation. I used to put this version on some of my comp tapes, so I know the quality was pretty good. Why am I thinking California? I don't remember what CA shows there were besides HOB. Where's my Street Angel concert t-shirt?!?!! ;) |
I have a good recording from Jones Beach 94' but you probably already have that one. It has a longer intro because either a) it was meant to be like that or b) she messed up and missed her que (most likely) so she goes oooh hooo ahhh haaa before the first verse. Not the most heart-felt performance but really good quality. She also messes up and says "love don't meant what it said at all" lol. Well either way, here you go:
