LOVE Stevie's 'tude in this interview!

She had every right to be mad but of course I'm glad things worked out! :)

I think the most telling point that she's pissed is that she calls Mick "Mr Fleetwood" which I totally loved xD

louielouie2000 10-09-2010 09:27 PM

Heh, Stevie sure has changed her tune regarding telling all when she's 60 now that she's actually... 60. :p

It's so interesting Stevie making such a big deal out of the whole Silver Springs feud with Mick. I think she just wanted to find a big, dramatic, sexy excuse to leave Fleetwood Mac... when in reality, she simply wanted to leave because Lindsey had done so. Stevie does love dramatic effect and bashing her bandmates in the press while promoting her solo efforts!

I'd have to disagree with that last comment. I think she was being honest,we are not in her shoes. It not being put on 'Rumours' was bad enough but not allowing her to have it 14 years later was pretty harsh. I don't think Lindsay had anything to do with her wanting to leave FM.

I think Mick's stance was outrageous really and it's hard to believe he walked such a hard line. So, I think her anger was genuine. However, I do think she wanted to leave FM because Lindsey did and she has said as much. She said she didn't feel it was FM without him and she wanted to go too. She said that they came in together and it just felt that they should leave together too, but she didn't feel right just walking out, especially after he had done so. She didn't want to abandon them that same way.

Even Mick said that the Cage tour wasn't the same for Stevie without Lindsey there. She was disoriented. She said that they all kept hoping and praying he'd return, but she knew he wouldn't.

Still, it may be good that Mick didn't give in. If he had, I don't know if The Dance era would have meant as much to Stevie. Finally having 'Silver Springs' be in the spotlight was obviously important to her.

Stevie has said herself that she should have left Fleetwood Mac when Lindsey did, that it didn't feel like Fleetwood Mac to her anymore. I think she was just waiting for an excuse to leave, and she got it with the Silver Springs run-in.

The whole thing just reminds me of Stevie back in '07/'08 saying she hated the Mac was now a men's club, that she'd never go back again without having Christine or another woman up there with her, Say You Will was terrible, blah blah blah. And by the way, my live DVD is the best thing I've ever done! ;) Then the very next freaking year she embarked on a year long worldwide tour with Fleetwood Mac.

That's true! That was special! :)

I hate Klonopin-era interviews. She's so detached. Sad.

The whole problem with Mick not letting her have the song is that it wasn't MICK who made that call. It was Warner Bros. they didn't want to license the song to Modern for Stevie's album because they were planning on it being one of the highlights of "The Chain" box set. Mick became the face of the problem, but he wasn't the one who said no. I know when I saw the boxed set had "Silver Springs" on it I went and pulled the $85 out of the bank to buy it. I'm sure many people bought it because it was on there. I already had the 45rpm, but to finally have it on CD was a big deal at the time.

I didn't think of that! I can see Warners doin' that. I still believe the best version of 'Silver Springs' is on Stevie's 'The Very Best of' from 2007. That version is extended & I love Stevie's howling at the end.

Let's recall how everyone's bankroll/net worth took a 30-40% nosedive around that time:) Not sure how this would map onto Stevie's $$, but a family member of mine lost $400,000 and I'm sure he had less than 2 mil. I imagine, for all the old rock-a-rollers, they are just plain gettin' all they can while we'll all still go listen to the same old songs. It was obvious watching her on that tour that she didn't really have a spark about the singing. She'd just saunter over to the mic when it was her turn; looking bored to hell. At least this past summer she was shakin' and movin' and smilin' and stretchin' for the notes -- it did seem she loved playing with her band -- and her chicks -- and still, getting our money!
