Edge of....16??

I was recently re-reading Bob Brunning's book about Fleetwood Mac. It mentions that Stevie recorded 16 songs for Bella Donna. Since the album only has 10 songs, what were the other six? Certainly 'Blue Lamp.' Maybe 'Gold and Braid.' Anyone care to speculate?

The other six were

1.Sleeping Angel
2. Blue Lamp
3. Gold & Braid
4. The Dealer
5. Julia
6. Sanctuary

She only really completed Sleeping Angel & Blue Lamp as far as mixing & mastering (as far as the fans know). She mentioned the other three as also being completed and mixed but not mastered. Maybe someday we will actually get to hear mastered versions.

"Julia" is mixed and mastered as well.

wow, from what i can find on youtube these songs are pretty bad... bella donna, which is my second favorite albums of all time, must have been the cream of a pretty small crop. I Still love blue lamp tho.

Yikes! :) "Julia" is one of the most beloved of Stevie's unreleased songs! Even Lori says it's her favourite (Gordon Perry told me it's his favourite as well!). Hey, but we all have our preferences. Maybe the versions you heard on YouTube aren't the best outtakes? (Stevie recorded LOTS of takes of these songs!) ;) Check out the "Demos/Outtakes/Live Songs" thread for some amazing versions of "Gold and Braid", "Julia", "The Dealer", etc.

Aside from the six mentioned above, Stevie also recorded several more songs for Bella Donna, in various states of completion:

"Baby Doll"
"Gypsy"
"Starshine Silver"
"Belle Fleur"
"If You Were My Love"

Plus "Castaway", but I've never heard a full-band version, so maybe it never got completed.

BTW, I don't think all of the official versions on Bella Donna are the best takes of every song, especially "How Still My Love" and "Kind Of Woman", but, yeah, that album is pretty much cream-of-the-crop!

If i compiled a list of all my favorite fleetwood mac related albums belladonna would so be no. 2.... right after rumours and before mystery to me.
