Dream Duet

Anyone have an artist/band that you would have loved Stevie to duet with?
I'd go for...

Blondie/Debbie Harry

APerfectLie 08-13-2010 08:07 PM

Tegan and Sara
Andrew McMahon
Hayley Williams
Pink

I would die to see Stevie work with a young/current artist.
It'd rock!

I would love to hear Stevie do something country with Tim McGraw or George Strait, rock out with U2, Sting, Mick Jagger, pull a Streisand and have Diana Krall produce a standards type album, and, yes, the Pet Shop Boys! :woohoo:

There are a lot of people I'd die to hear her work with... In some cases, they are people she probably has never even heard of, so these would probably never happen. But anyways, here are a few off the top of my head:
- Ann & Nancy Wilson (I second this one)
- Lisa Dalbello (if you've never heard of her, I have a fan page where you can listen to clips from her albums: http://dalbello.4x2.net I would recommend starting with her 1987 album "She" if you're more of a fan of 80's music or her 1995 album "whore" if you can tolerate/like 90's grunge/hard rock production, for that album is probably her finest songwriting-wise....) As an aside, I discovered her because Heart covered two of her songs... "Wait For An Answer" & "Black On Black".
- Juliane Werding (a German singer/songwriter who's been active for about the same time as Stevie.... check her out at YouTube here OR here OR here.. you can find English translations if you click for more info under the last video. There are plenty of her other tracks on there, but my favorite material of hers is from the last 20 years or so... Juliane writes lyrics in a similar style to Stevie, so a song half in German and half in English would be pretty cool. She did this sort of thing once on a song called "Engel Wie Du" (Angel Like You), where she sang a verse in German with Maggie Reilly singing a verse in English and French/Belgian singer Viktor Lazlo singing a verse in French.
- Marie Fredriksson &/or Per Gessle (both of Roxette). I believe Per is a fan of Stevie's as he once dedicated a song to her (if memory serves, it was a tribute to "Beautiful Child"). His brand of power-pop melodies and arrangements could make for an interesting mixture. I think Marie's voice today (which has deepened some from what it used to be) would sound very nice with Stevie's, either harmonizing and/or in a duet.
- What would a Barry Gibb produced track sound like, with Stevie's voice and his multi-layered backing harmony vocals? Now that would be interesting to hear. Might sound awful, but then again..... who knows! And while I'm on this track, why not Olivia Newton-John? That could make for a nice duet... Olivia tends to stick to her lower range (at least by comparison to her earlier material) on newer recordings.
- Anna Vissi (a Greek pop star) I actually think their voices might meld nicely. Since Dave Stewart has been working with her recently on her second English-language solo album, maybe this isn't as far-fetched as some of my other candidates!
- Sissel ... One of my all-time favorite vocalists. She's a Norwegian singer who has probably the most beautiful voice I've ever heard. Her rich, but pure & pristine tone would be a sharp contrast to Stevie's huskier voice... another possibly interesting mixture. I have no idea what a track would sound like, considering Sissel has performed a somewhat wide range of musical styles, but she mostly sticks to classical, easy listening, and folk styles.
- Belinda Carlisle ... I've often wondered what these two would sound like together, given Belinda's raspiness and quivery, speedy vibrato. Since Belinda, like Stevie, had worked with Rick Nowels on many tracks, it's too bad this never happened in the late 80's or early 90's.

Yesss! I'd love to hear them do something together.

I know she's already performed with Ann & Nancy Wilson before, but I'd love to hear her do more with them like on a studio track or something.

Pet Shop Boys, obviously.

Funny - I've had this thought in my head for the past year or so. Stevie shares almost the same exact timbre as Rufus Wainwright. Regardless of anything else (likes or dislikes) - I think their voices would sound almost the same together.

You know, for a second I thought you were talking about Loudon Wainwright... which would be awesome.

Stevie wants to be a lesbian.

For many years, Billie Squier for some reason. Just always thought they'd make a rockin' hit or two. Shawn Colvin maybe now, but there could be some newbies I might entertain the thought of too....except Taylor and the like. But who cares....I just want to her sing.;);)
