Transported Human Heads Shipment Arkansas Bound
Human heads shipment Arkansas bound, according to an employee. A Southwest Airlines employee discovered a shipment of 40 to 60 human heads going to Arkansas. An Arkansas coroner had a lot of investigating to do after a cargo shipment of the human heads was discovered.
"Although it is common to transport human specimens for medical purposes, a longstanding Southwest cargo customer attempted to transport a shipment without following policies in relation to labeling, packaging, and properly declaring the contents," Southwest Airlines said in a statement. "They were basically in plastic containers with lids that are not air-sealed," Pulaski County Coroner Garland Camper said in a statement. "They were duct-taped with minimal information to disclose what was inside." The shipment was in three separate containers found at a cargo facility in Little Rock, Arkansas. It was set for transportation to a Medtronic research lab in Fort Worth, Texas. The shipment was not labeled so Southwest employees opened the box. After discovering its contains, they contacted local police, who turned the heads over to the nearby coroner. Camper also said he was waiting for the correct documentation to prove the heads were for medical research before releasing them. "In our discussion with the health department, we've come to the conclusion that there is a black market for body parts out there," he said. "We just want to make sure these specimens aren't part of that underground trade." The human heads were for educational training for neurosurgeons studying ear, nose and throat procedures. "The company had ordered four heads and 40 skull parts, or the portion of the head with the ear," Medtronic spokesman Brian Henry said in a statement. http://www.newsoxy.com/travel/human-...sas-13466.html |
