If Stevie ............

Hi all ,I was thinking about this earlier today as I was picking up the concert tickets. What If, Stevie throws in the towel on rock music and
cross over to a another gender like Country,R and B,Rap,Hip Hop,Blues,Hardrock ,Opera,Jazz,Classical or what ever.

Would any of you Stevie fans will continue to support her,by still buying her music and going to dozens of concerts on the same tour or throw in the towel.

i wouldn't call myself a loyal fan if i didn't! I think that while her music style is a definite factor in why i'm a fan, it' mostly her persona and her SONGWRITING skills that keep me hooked perpetually. IMO, she is the best lyricist that ever lived and as long as her song writing and emotions stay the same, i will forever and always be a proud Chiffon Head!:blob2::nod:

as a side note, Stevie can easily cross over into country - the early Buckingham Nicks demos and TISL had LOADS of country influences, and her grandfather was also a country musician!

I've mentioned this in another forum before but I would like to see Stevie sing blues material, even do a few dates with the MFBB. I think she has the voice to do it if she could just break out of the mould she has created for herself.

However, if Stevie started singing (?) rap I think I'd give up on her completely.

She won't even sing Talk To Me, let alone sing rap. Or any go into any other different genre. I think country could be most likely, but it's not going to happen.

At the end of the day Stevie knows what the fans want, and what they need. She's not stupid. She could very possibly explore other genres but she would never completely abandon her children (meaning her music) that made her the woman she is today. It's just a feeling...

I could picture the West Coasters accepting Stevie as a rap singer;
but the East Coast might have a problem with it, 'yo.

I don't think Stevie will crossover. Hell, she is more country than a lot of country stars, but she refuses to whore herself out to make a buck. She is like the anti-madonna. She doesn't change to be hip or to sale records. It's hurt her, but I respect that.

Musicman408 05-14-2010 10:33 PM

I could potentially see her doing something really chill like the Krauss/Plant CD.

gypsy4life 05-14-2010 11:16 PM

Stevie is already pretty much a country crossover. I love her no matter what. I can safely say this because she will stay true to who she is as an artist, which I totaly love about her.

GypsyBlueEyes 05-15-2010 12:08 AM

There is no question that I will always support her in anything she does. I've wanted her to put out a blues album for so long. She has the voice for it and I think doing something different would reinvigorate her creativity and the fans would love it. A Stevie blues album would definitely be killer

APerfectLie 05-15-2010 12:52 AM

Eh, it depends. If Stevie were to go balls to the wall with a country album as her next album I'd be a little disappointed. However if she made another rock album and then in a year or so did a country album, or an album of any other genre for that matter, I'd be fine with it. I'm all for her expanding her horizons and doing new things, but I think she needs to do some classic Stevie first before she ventures out on a limb. To disappear for 10 years and then try to come out with some different genre of music would not be smart.

Stevie will be 62 years old in about 2 weeks--it's probably a little late for her to switch over into anything else and start a new career, and Stevie doesn't have the voice she once had to seriously let her start over. Perhaps if she got out of the "Rhiannon" voice shredding mode a little sooner, she would have had other opportunities if she persued them.

A contemporary/slight forerunner of Stevie's, Linda Ronstadt, actually did switch out of rock music. Initially she brought some of her fans along with her change. The ones that didn't follow her career would show up at various venues and actually walk out when they realized she wasn't going to be doing songs such as "That'll Be The Day," "You're No Good," "Different Drum," "Hurt So Bad," "Tracks of My Tears," "When Will I Be Loved," etc. In recent years Linda has added one or two songs from her past back into her sets (not her major rock type songs), but states she hates rock & roll and isn't going back to it--even though she earned a large chunk of her money and fame from that genre. She's done rock, country, jazz, big band, mariachi, pop, and even some songs for children's movies. Her voice is still stellar. She left a lot of fans behind, but she's picked up others.

Linda is 63 years old and has a thyroid disorder. She's still out performing. She's won a ton of awards. She's released over 30 albums.

Wow,Thanks for the input all, also I did not know Linda Ronstadt has a thyroid disorder ,also I did not know she is 63 I though she was like 54 years old.Linda is on top of my list of artists too.

I could definitely see her doing something related to the blues or country, something along the lines of Bonnie Raitt.

However, if she went rap, it'd be both too funny for words and disturbing.
