Stevie's artwork

Couple questions for all you photo/image collectors:

Does anyone have a better version of this:

I've always loved this. Does anyone know the history of it? Specifically, how it wound up on the internet? Also, maybe this is a bit cynical, but do we know for sure Stevie painted/drew it? I mean, I know it has her signature at the bottom and the handwriting matches and everything but still, someone could probably fake that...

This was a painting Stevie did of Rhiannon. She even had prints of it made several years back to auction off for a charity function. I believe she even spoke about this painting in her Behind The Music from the '90s? It's definitely authentic.

Okay that is great to hear. I want to get a print of it made to decorate my room at school but I didn't want to spend all year admiring an imposter! Thank you!

I first saw this picture in December 1994 at the Hard Rock Cafe at Universal Studios Orlando. It was framed and hanging on the wall with all the other rock memorabilia. I thought it was the original, I guess it could've been a copy or Stevie just let them borrow it...it was several years before prints were offered for sale.

And speaking of Hard Rock Cafes, a pair of Stevie's boots and tambourine were at the Hard Rock in Toronto at the SkyDome the following month. Do they rotate their collections or is the same stuff kept at each location?

I wonder why she never finished it. Look at the sun rays on the upper right. It looks like she forgot to color them in. It's a riot of color, almost like Peter Max's groovy 60's posters.

I hadn't noticed that- I wonder if it was intentional. Pinks and yellows together make me happy, which is probably why I am drawn to this.

They are happy colors, and there is a lot going on in this picture. Very eye-catching. I would get colored pencils and fill in those missing sun-rays, and then it would be a very nice thing for little Laney's room.

i read somewhere the not finishing it had to do w/ robin & her death~ maybe someone knows the exact article i read this in~ on the print i have there is a poem to robin along the side of it~

i found this on the painting:
They're all angels. I only draw angels. I started to draw when my best friend got Leukemia. And that's what she's left me. And so I know she's really excited now because it has finally, after the last 9 years, come to fruition, and people have finally started appreciating it. But I never drew a thing before she got sick. And I drew that ~ I drew Rhiannon ~ for her, to stay at the end of her bed so she could see something when I wasn't there. So that she would have something to stare at. And uh ~ so now I know that Robin is up there and I'm down here and we're both laughing about it because now it's finally come into its own.
~Stevie Nicks, Off the Record interview with Mary Turner, December 1994

& this is the postscript along side the painting:

Postscript

Rhiannon was started at the onset of Robin's Leukemia~ last August~
she died last Tuesday~

she was originally finished for Patrick at the City of Hope~ he died while she was still in her grey stage~

I finished her in brilliance upon Robins death~ because Robin was brilliant~

May she be a patron of driving this disease away~ it cannot live this cancer~ amongst Rhiannon's bright colors~ she was a bright light girl~ and we will fight on white light~
~S. Nicks, 1982

I have a beautiful print I got off ebay years ago hanging in my bathroom. I always loved the collage of beautiful, bright colors.
