Personal Interpretations

Does anyone want to personally interperate a song?
There are many interpretations for many songs, but I am sure that you may want to describe it in your own way.

Rhiannon:

"Lindsey sucks. I rock. End of story." ;)

Bella Donna:

"Being in Fleetwood Mac isn't just like being in the army. It's like being in a circus!"

That Made Me Stronger:

"DAMN, I hope this album sells well; I can't even afford to hire Tom PETTY as a writer right now!!! "

(I'll post some more-serious attempts at song interpretations tomorrow... :) )

If I remember correctly, when I first came to the Ledge there was a subforum dedicated to this very topic. I miss it, so thanks for bringing this up!

Just off the top of my head, I think Say You Will is about Christine

Sorry if i didn't explain my self, but it's whatt you think -
Wether or not anyone has confirmed its topic.

Alright then,

Undoing the laces

What laces?
Shoes???

nailatixela 04-24-2010 09:22 AM

HeeHee. Yes, shoes.

Anyway, I do this all the time. I think it's what you are talking about. When listening to a song you are relating it to your own life as the song plays?

I've actually always took "undoing the laces" as undoing everything in her life. He is just like a dark wing, and since he has come in her life he has completely taken over. The laces could be the finer points in her life, and everything is just completely different with him in the picture.

totally agree

Stevie mimed 'undoing the laces' during the last tour, and it looked as though it might be a blouse or similar. Does that tell us anything?

Did someone call my name? :wavey:

Silver Springs ~ I interpret as an old friend who confessed her love to me.. At the time I was pretty popular with the girls  and said we should remain friends.. When my ride came to an end we were no longer friends.. Things changed for us both (we're in happy relationships) but we caught up again and are friendly (Facebook) and she mentioned how hard it'd be to see me again.. Every time I hear Silver Springs I think of her singing it to me.. Tad cheesy but hey! :D

Hope thats what you meant lol about own interpretations.. If you meant the other way then I think just about every song on Say You Will Stevie sings is about having an affair with Lindsey

Blurb on Leather and Lace

http://coldfrontmag.com/news/song-of...s-w-don-henley

I have a house. You have a house. I’m stepping onto your front porch. One thing I love about Stevie Nicks is her repeated use of house imagery. What we imagine as a house and how we inhabit space is so important to us. In “Leather and Lace,” Stevie’s house is complete, and her male counterpart has only to walk inside. To me, that’s such a concept on its own. Additionally, what keeps me coming back are these lines: “Still I carry this feeling / when you walked into my house / That you won’t be walking out the door.” She is strong and entirely capable (“I have my own life / and I am stronger than you know”), but, like Don Henley, has a fragile side. She is and has enough already, and their exchange has some sort of balance and acceptance. It’s just schmaltzy enough, yes? I’m sold.
