Pick A Song To Upgrade
So I have this amazing opportunity to choose a song to be upgraded and obviously it's going to be something Stevie so please request one song you would like to have improved sound quality. No promises but I'll try my best to make it happen.
|
"Thousand Days" ~ Rock A Little outtake, the fast full-band version with the saxophone.
|
"All The Beautiful Worlds" That's my favorite. But if that one is impossible, then I would like to have better sound quality on the first complete long version take of "Smile At You".
|
'I Call You Missing' or 'Straight Back'
|
China Doll or Christian (a/k/a Spinning Wheel )!!!
|
Christian or Smile at You, please.
Thank you! x |

Are you guys referring to the Smile At You angry demo from 82' because the Mirage outtake I have is pretty good quality.
Edit: Oh is it the version that's longer and not so angry? |

Thankyou so much! |
"What Has Rock and Roll Ever Done For You?"
"She Still Loves Him" |

Also, not that this is new news or anything but someone tell me why the angry version is SO MUCH better than the SYW version? I think most people would agree with that but it's really quite obvious to me. Maybe she's just not that angry anymore and the background vocals on the chorus with Lindsey singing sucks. If they were going to add a new chorus it should have been much stronger. :distress: |
Jimmy Come On Back - only because no good quality version has ever surfaced anywhere.
or I Call You Missing, same reason but that parts of that song has evolved into others. |
The Say You Will version of "Smile At You" is an abomination!
First off, Stevie wrote it on piano, and the piano is very important in the Tusk and Mirage versions. Stevie also thought the bass was important, and there's the fascinating studio Master where, when JMcV refuses to play the song in 1979 because he thinks it is too nasty and bitter, Stevie begs him to play! LB wiped away piano and a strong bass presence on that hideous SYW atrocity. Plus, his own vocals are now the chorus of Stevie's song, rather than her voice. Ick! LB recorded the song while Stevie was on tour with TISL and she merely laid down the vocals much later ~ she didn't produce the track. No wonder she hates the production on that album. ("Silver Girl" was also butchered, based on the far superiour demo of Stevie's that is played in Destiny Rules.) IMO IMO IMO |

Chanel, Chanel!!!!
I ditto Jimmy Come On Back since, like Chanel, Chanel, we don't have a clear copy. China Doll, IMO is pretty clear now but it is one of my all time favorites. |
