Dreams guitar help

I need help on playing the intro on Dreams on my acoustic. I don't know how to get that "twang sound" sound you hear from the beginning of the song & after "you want your freedom" on my acoustic guitar. I'm guessing those notes are bend but is there another way to possibly get that sound on my acoustic? It's 1 of my favorite guitar parts of the song.

Thank you

I believe it's Lindsey using a volume pedal. He used to use it live, but stopped later on. You use it to "swell" the note.

Bm7th - are you talking about the live version or the Rumours record version? From the sounds of what you described, I'd think its "The Dance" version you're referring to. Part of that sound is Buckingham's electric guitar tone. You won't get that fully with an acoustic.

From the Dreams live tab I'm having trouble playing this on my acoustic.

------------------------
-3b3-1------------3----- this is in the beginning of the tab.
-------------------2b2---- the 1st part is right after the 1st note & the
--------------------------- other is right after " you want your freedom" &
--------------------------- after the second verse " crystal visions" you hear
-------------------------- that sound. I'm guessing thats the volume pedal

I must be doing somethin wrong.

Once again thank you for your expertise!

I hope you don't mind the guitar questions , I have many more questions on playing Fleetwood Mac yet to come.

I've been playing on & off for 20 yrs. I taught myself, I never took lessons, just learned on my own from books and the web.

I'm in between jobs right now & really would like to take fully advantage of my free time on learning more on the guitar.

The Dreams "live" tab is from The Dance album. There is no volume pedal on that performance. Lindsey only used a volume pedal on the Rumours album version and on the tour from 1976-78ish.

Those particular bends, by the way, are fairly difficult to make on an acoustic and sound "correct."

Would you know how I can fingerpick that part?

Right on  it's there!

Nice job... I wish I could play like that ( I wish I could play at all, for that matter ). I really like the TITN solo you made ( I think in 2007 ) as well.

great! I put in a dispute to have Youtube unblock the video. Just fill out a form saying you aren't going it for profit, and that the audio was from a CD/DVD that you yourself purchased ;)

Excellent performance! Thanks for sharing. Do you know how to play "Sara" ( Fleetwood Mac Live 1980?)

Also what is your favorite song to play or your favorite riff or lead by Fleetwood Mac?

mylittledemon 08-12-2010 03:47 PM

Yes. Sara is in standard tuning. Quite easy to play actually.

My favorite song to play is probably "The Chain" off The Dance record. ;)

What are the last 2 notes from the lead solo at the middle of the song?
